Looking for a horse share/exercising (Reitbeteiligung)

Hi,

I'm looking for a horse to ride 1 or 2 times a week somewhere near Zurich (I live quite centrally but am mobile).
I'm 35 years old, reliable and have ridden all my life and had my own (and shared) horses in the past too. I have a 1 year old daughter now so unfortunately I'm not able to have my own horse at the moment but would like to still be riding.
I'm happy to exercise the horse however the owner would like me to, whether that's schooling or riding out, I'm totally flexible. I am of course also happy to contribute to costs.

If you or you know of anyone who is looking for someone who will love, respect and reliably ride their horse then please do get in touch. I'm also looking on various websites (reitkalendar.ch; gratis-inserate.ch; tier-inserate.ch) as well but thought I'd post on here too.

Thanks,
Emily

Re: Looking for a horse share/exercising (Reitbeteiligung)

I once put a little add in the PEGASUS magazine and got about 20 calls from it. I was offered a few decent horses to ride and also got some ridiculous calls ("he's a very friendly horse, but he bites and kicks", "the horse hasn't been ridden for 6 years, but I thought you could ride it and if you could also pay for the blacksmith...", "this is a horse for experienced riders only, I have a weight limit of 50kg", "I don't want any money for you riding my horse, I just want to be taken to lunch every now and then"....)

However, I ended up finding a good arrangement with a nice owner

If you'd like to post an add and need help with German for your it, just let me know

I think that as a good rider you seem to be you should have no problem to find a decent horse to ride. Good luck!

Thanks TexasLynette! That's very helpful. I love some of the replies you got, especially the one about lunch

I've not heard of Pegasus magazine & couldn't find it in the well stocked magazine/ book shop I looked in. Do you know if it's circulated in the Zürich area?

I've just found out that it doesn't exist anymore. I'm sorry you went looking and for obvious reason couldn't find it. You could try Kavallo magazine or post an add on ricardo/ricardolino.

Re: Looking for a horse share/exercising (Reitbeteiligung)

Hi there, great to hear that you can do such a thing in Swiss. I'm Irish, I will also be moving from ireland to Zurich within the next few mths. & I would love to share horse riding with an owner or a horse riding school. I am a qualified horse riding instructor, & now a Yoga & Pilates teacher. So if you have any helpful tips, where i may find wrk as a teacher of Yoga & Pilates in Zurich & around maybe you might write back to me. Also im v interested in sharing horse riding, so if u do happen to find a nice school or person, i'd be happy to find out places also. I will be moving over in July, bit nervous of moving but i got to do it some time. My boyf is Swiss. Looking fwd to hearing back from you all x

Re: Looking for a horse share/exercising (Reitbeteiligung)

Hi all:

I know of 2 horses available now; you can PM me for details, stall visit.

Please serious inquiries only. This is intended for those willing to commit to 1-2 days each week in order to build up a bond with the horse.

This is not a reitschule but private stall and by owner only. You will need to have the appropriate insurances for CH which will be checked.

Re: Looking for a horse share/exercising (Reitbeteiligung)

Hi! I know this message was some time ago now but thought I would ask if you have any advise on sharing/helping someone out with riding and exercising their horse.

I'm moving to Zurich in March and would like to make sure I continue riding as I love being around horses. I've owned my own horses and have competed at local and national levels. I'd like to help out with mucking out/grooming etc too as I find this just as enjoyable!

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Re: Looking for a horse share/exercising (Reitbeteiligung)

I put an ad on Anibis and got more responses than I could even respond to. Of course just beware and know your limits and what you need in a horse. Unfortunately several responders were offering me barely trained horses. But I found a very wonderful woman and we have a good arrangement for me riding once a week one of her four horses and helping her in the stable that day.

Best use for a horse is as meat.

Anything else is abuse.

Rather a sweeping generalization.
Caring for horses in their stables, raising them and feeding them might not be considered abuse.

Re: Looking for a horse share/exercising

I am looking also for a horse sharing program in the montreux Villeneuve area. My Daughter is 18 and an experienced rider, willing to share or rent 2-3 days per week. Any leads or interested parties?
