I'm looking for a friendly and gentle groomer for my mini Schnauzer, preferably on the Enge / Wollishofen side of the lake. I've been taking him to a place in Wollishofen but I'm not too happy with them. I once saw one of the groomers there being a bit too harsh with one of the dogs and I would really like to find somewhere else to go. Any recommendations?

Well, not on the right side of town but I took my be-dreadlocked Norwegian Forest Cat to Dog and More in Oerlikon, where he was looked after by the lovely Claire who is half-American and was so nice and calm that my cat started flirting with her despite her going at him with a noisy whizzing machine. I don't know if she is still there but they seemed nice in general, I believe I paid 40 francs for what was about 45 minutes of cat grooming. They do dogs too, or rather, mainly dogs, as the name suggests.

Thanks, Kittster! I wish that weren't so far away. I'd have to get him there on the bus - I think I've only been to Oerlikon once and it took forever.

Oh gosh, yes, that is a bit far, although if you take the train from Enge to Oerlikon, it should be half an hour tops. Well, if you get really desperate, you could always call them and ask for a recommendation? They are very adamant on their website about not using any 'rough' methods so I guess they would know who else is good? Good luck!
ETA: I gave them a ring and they didn't know of anyone but recommended checking on the website to see how they describe the services - I don't know how good your German is though. Maybe ask on RonOrps too?

That's helpful information - although the place I go to now doesn't actually have a website, just a page with contact info. But I'll do another search online. Hope it isn't too silly a question but, what is RonOrps?

why don't you try this: www.hunderthunde.ch. That is close to train station Wiedikon, 2 minutes by train from Enge, the lady speaks English and has reasonable prices. My dog always starts wagging her tail when we get there. Unfortunately she doesn't groom any cats.

Our experiences here in CH have not been that positive so far (either very expensive, unfriendly or both) alternatively we usually take ours to a groomer when back in our home country. Good luck!
