Cat sitter - Lausanne area

Hi,

Any recommendation for a cat sitter or cattery around Lausanne?

I found a few already, but I have no experience with any of them. Do you know of any of the ones linked below, or have recommendations for a different one.

Chatterie du Point du Jour - http://www.chatterie.ch/enindex.php
Chenil De La Lorelei - http://www.lorelei.ch/
Chat L'heureux - http://www.chatlheureux.ch/
Chatterie "Ron Ron" - http://chatronron.romandie.com/
Chenil Of-Liberty - http://www.of-liberty.com/
Malibou - http://malibou.ch/

Kitty need a nice place to be (and sleep).. but she is not an outdoors cat, although walking around a closed garden/caged in area would be okay.

Kitty

Thanks, P.

So, still nothing...

But, I spoke with a few cat people from my work and was recommended the Chatterie du Point du Jour - http://www.chatterie.ch/enindex.php in Rolle.

Kitty is going there the end of June, so I will give my feedback after the stay.

Hi Peter

Sorry I didn't see your thread earlier I know you have found a solution but just wanted to add that Chenil De La Lorelei are pretty good. We don't have a cat but have left our dogs there on a few occasions and have found them happy and contented on our return.

Please report back on your return, it is always good to get feedback, we never know when we might need to find alternatives

Cheers

Nats

Re: Cat sitter - Lausanne area

Hi.

So, to give some feedback.

First, the place is almost impossible to find. Our TomTom 720 was no use, since it took us the completely wrong way. As it turns out, the place doesn't really have a real address or house number, but to those who want to go there, I made this map:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?f=q&h...,1.005249&z=10

As for the place itself: There is separate rooms for cats that need to stay for themselves and there is a large two floor with closed in garden area for the other cats that can be together. The place looks very good and there is enough to do for the cats.

What is weird is that the place also sells other stuff, like marmalade and such. The cattery is properly the main income and the other things side income.

But the cats all have to share the litterbox and the mealbowls, not really something all cats are used to.

I know, that our cat is a bit spoiled, she gets snacks when she wants (almost), her litterbox is always clean and filled with enough stones so she can dig around.

I posted a few pictures here: http://picasaweb.google.com/debrass/ChatteriePontDuJour

However, when we picked up Kitty, she was thinner than she usually is and she has a tick above her left ear. I don't think she enjoyed the stay. Oh' the worst, she has been in a fight with one of the other cats, since my fiance found a small cut with a cat nail still embedded in her.

Next time, I may consider a different place or just having someone watch her in our apartment while we are gone.

Rgds, Peter

Re: Cat sitter - Lausanne area

Sorry to hear she didn't have the best time there.

We lived in Germany recently with our dog and the kennels there seem to be keen on dogs unknown to each other sharing a kennel - I can't see how that works really, and the same with cats. My dog came back thinner and sick.

He will never go in kennels again. I always find him a petsitter now and he's much happier.

All the best for next time..

Re: Cat sitter - Lausanne area

We just collected our two boys from the chatterie pont du jour.
I have to say I was petrified of leaving them after all in the U.K they would have shared one cubicle between the two of them. Here they would share with five others. We left them after a few tears and collected them 5 weeks later.

I was so pleased with the way they both were. The staff were really friendly, the place was very very clean and both boys seemed really happy. We will certainly use again but you need to book early as they get booked up very quickly especially in school holidays.

Its a 5 star hotel for cats!

Re: Cat sitter - Lausanne area

Sorry I didn't see your post at the time you were looking... I've been using Chat l'heureux for ten years and I think they also do a great job. The place is in beautiful country, the cats stay inside but have permanent access to a caged outdoor space, and the owner and staff are wonderful with them. They have the services of a local vet.

Our cat got really stressed out the first time we left her there, but the owner actually cooked her a fish dinner on her first night! She calmed down and made friends with the other cats after that.

Male cats have to be sterilized, females don't. You need to drop off the vaccination book and give the kitties heart worm pills and either a flea and tick dip or collar (which you can buy at the cattery if you forget) before their stay.

Good luck for the next time!

Re: Cat sitter - Lausanne area

I was just wondering if anyone can refer us to a cat sitting service in Lausanne. We will be heading away for a month in March, and have really struggled to find a cat sitting service that will come to our apartment in Pully. Ideally they would also speak English (but we can get by if they speak French) and they just need to come and feed the cat/change litter/etc.

We have searched everywhere (including this site) and haven't really found anything too recent on this topic. We are not interested in a cattery unless we really really have too.

Thanks in advance
Rod

Re: Cat sitter - Lausanne area

We found a lovely lady in Lausanne to care for our cat when we went home for a visit.
Her name is Alexandra from 'Le Paradis Des Animaux". She was fantastic! She came and fed Ashka daily, collected our mail, watered our plants etc.

She can be contacted via email - le_paradis_des_animaux@bluemail.ch
She only speaks French, but was accomodating to us, and was happy to corrospond via email so we translate.

We highly reccommend her!
