Looking for dog walker in Affoltern, 8046

Hi, does anyone know good, trustworthy dog walker in Affoltern? We are looking for someone who can take our Labrador out during the day. Please advise and what are some standard rate and other consideration I need to know?

We just moved to Zurich, so advise is appreciated.

Thank you!

Re: Looking for dog walker in Affoltern, 8046

Rates are all over the ballpark, from ca. CHF 20 per hour to CHF 100 per hour. Group walking is usually at the lower end, walking your dog alone sometimes towards the higher.

Some dogwalkers will charge mileage on top of that.

Other things you need to know about:

Anyone doing commercial (paid) dog care must have completed certain education courses. It is your responsibility to ascertain that your dog walker has the necessary certificates. (For care of up to 5 dogs, the SKN courses - the same course all owners must take* - are sufficient.) You can read more here:

Requirements For Dog Care Providers

Make sure you understand insurance liability coverage. Talk to your insurer to understand what falls under your coverage* and/or the walker's. Ask the walker for copies of his/her policy.

Make sure you have a written contract, covering all expectations and contingencies.

Get references, and check them out.

---

* Since you mention that you are new to Switzerland, a couple of points that you might not have come across yet:

You are required to take out liability insurance (Privathaftpflicht) of at least 1 mio.

You are required to take courses yourself. There are two requirements, federal SKN Theory and Practical courses, and the ZH cantonal List 1 courses. (A lab is a List 1 breed.) Whether you are required to do the more extensive ZH List 1 courses will depend on when your dog was born, before or after 31 Dec 2010.
