As you can imagine in the Land Of Rules
, there are welfare regulations to keeping just about every type of pet animal in Switzerland. To get you started, here is the summary of care requirements for Goldhamsters in Switzerland, from the BLVV's MeinHeimtier website: http://www.meinheimtier.ch/de/goldhamster
The Goldhamster is a solitary critter by nature, so keeping as a singleton is promoted. (For all species, the law looks at what is natural for that species in establising whether living as a singleton is allowed, or not.)
The amount of space and accommodation is regulated as well.
Here is the Switzerland-wide database of homeless animals, you can search under 'Kleinsäuger' for small flurries. http://www.tierdatenbank.ch/cms/tier...unschtier.html
I'm not familiar with small furry rescues in the Luzern area, but one that is highly respected in Zürich is the Nagerstation: http://nagerstation.ch
You could always call them, register interest. Perhaps they could direct you to a rescue group in your area as well.
Good luck with your search!
