Thanks Belgianmum. I've got a carrier, but the OH has the car so transport is difficult. I can find the nearest vet using Local - my old one is right out the other side of Marly.

I've e-mailed the SPA Fribourg to see if they could possibly take him in and see if he has an owner.

Know what you mean roegner. Our last two were totally different like that. The fella would yell when he wanted something, the little lady simply looked at me - no words needed.
I have a car so could help with transport if necessary.

Our cat is definitely multilingual. English with us, French with the neighbours who usually look after him if we're away and Italian with friends who visit often and occasionally look after him. He definitely prefers English though, he has spent most of today stuck to my leg like glue as it was our first day back after 3 weeks away.

Re: Help! What to do?

I lost my cat a couple of years ago. After 3 months of searching, we found her, being looked after a few miles away.

Unfortunately, the finders didn't know to take her to a vet to see if she was chipped (she was).

We put "lost" posters up all over the place, but the one that eventually came up trumps was in the local Migros.

I called after seeing some posters for our lost friends twice (our basement has outside access). Each time I was met with an irritated owner .

I'm lost. Is this still about cats are you now describing your neighbours?

I only see a couple of "regulars" around here. One lives across from us and thinks I'm a mad woman when I talk to him/her. Stares at me for a minute and then scarpers. The other is a recent arrival so I suspect lives at one of the new properties. That one couldn't care less if I talk to them or not, they're very laid back and just carry on with what they were doing. Only other ones are the farm cats across the road, but they have acres and acres of fields to play/hunt in and I've never seen any of them come over here. And none of these look like the one wandering around at the moment. He's black and white, neighbour's is a tabby and the new arrival is a tabby and white. Farm's cats are tabby, pure white and a tabby and white.

Yes, those are the ones I see on a fairly regular basis. This black and white one pictured I haven't seen before. He's the one looking lost and calling at times.

Re: Help! What to do?

Have you tried the Pet Alert Fribourg FB page (if you have FB, that is)? There's always pictures of "found" pets as well as "lost" pets.

Re: Help! What to do?

No, don't do Facebook I'm afraid.

I have heard back from the SPA Fribourg and they could take him in if I can get him to them. So, first task find the cat. Went out a little while ago, but no sign of him. Typical cat, never around when you want them. Will keep checking and if he appears I'll bring him in.

Re: Help! What to do?

No sign of him today. So either gone elsewhere, found his way home or someone else has taken him in. And no, no dead cat in the main road which was my worry. Will keep an ear cocked for him meowing again over the next few days just in case. If he does come back I'll nab him and organise getting him to the refuge.

If it was he's been wandering a long, long way from home and then back again. Galmiz is nearly 15km from us by road.

You'll never guess who I just saw on the neighbour's stairway again. Yes, the cat seems to be back. Will be interesting if it's around tomorrow or not.

Re: Help! What to do?

Haven't seen him again Patsycat. I'm coming to the conculsion that he must be a new arrival who's moved into one of the new apartments or the new house that were recently built nearby. Could be he's one of those who go cadging for food/affection when they're outside.
