Re: A happy hoppy ending?

Thanks Melon - we thought about putting him in a 'sleeve' suit - but as you say, cats are very different to dogs. I think it is more itching rather than pain- but we are going to the vet tomorrow - he will just have to put up with the cone and not going out for just a little bit longer. Been sleeping most of the day once he realised we were not going to give in to letting him out.

Just abotu to take cone off to feed him and will make sure he stays with us so we can keep an eye on him afterwards. If he doesn't 'go for the stitches' we will only put the cone on at bedtime- is he does, cone will be back on promptly.

Hopefully he will be fine once stitches will be out - fut is growing back nicely- so all weill be hidden soon.

Seeing him being playful is such a joy- even if my hands are getting a bit of a battering (he is not half as ferocious as Mr G though).

Re: A happy hoppy ending?

And there I was thinking this would be a beer-related thread 🙁.
However, what a great story and well done to you Odile for not giving up on the little fella 👍.

The little blighter - only left him without cone for a few minutes whilst he was eating- and he was pulling at those stitches when I got back. Cone back on - lying next to me purring on settee...

You know that regardless of how you spell it, Duck tape doesn't only work on ducks, or ducts, right?

Sounds as if he's learnt an attention grabbing ploy to me.

On the contrary, not even just Jaguars. One Siamese was so nosey that every single adhesive or paint I put anywhere ended up with a noseprint. She didn't even mind having a flag of tape on the end of her tail.

Re: A happy hoppy ending?

So stitches out, and microchip in, rabbies jab and passport done - and yeah he has a European passport spray for the bit which is still opened, and ointment for sticky eye ....Vet checked first, he didn't have a microchip.

on the settee next to me being good- but we will have to put cone back on for a few more days if we ahve to leave alone for any time- and not going out until it has healed well.

Patience is the mother of all virtues - for him... and for us smile such a cutie though, and never mind the extra Euros spent today hey.

And soon, he will be the only one in our household with a proper (French) European passport- blue with the stars, lucky him.

Re: A happy hoppy ending?

Wow the saga continues - he started scratching his ears really badly and we discovered he had ear mites. Went to vet on Saturday to get gel to clean his ears and a does of 3 pipettes to clear them - and had to put the cone back on to stop him tearing his ears off. He really struggled all week-end- so back with him to the vet- who gave me a different treatment and gave him 2 injections of anti-imflammatories. Finally working so we've been able to take the collar off and he his calmly purring next to me on settee.

Poor little thing- weill soon be all behind us and he will have a wonderful life in front of him- but wow.

Re: A happy hoppy ending?

Last visit to the vet, I hope for a very very long time, on Monday - he is tranformed and totally trusting and happy (on settee next to me with his 3 legs up in the air - and purring on and off in his sleep)...

Onwards and forwards he is such a sweetie.

Re: A happy hoppy ending?

He's going to be a very happy kitty from now on from the sounds of it. The quick transformation suggests he did have a home with someone sometime. Whether he got lost or they just dumped him I guess we'll never know. It took months for our 2 rescues to get that trusting. He definitely knows a good thing when he finds it.

Sorry, got a bad cold and as some have enjoyed pointing out recently - I am hopeless with IT technology and posting pictures. He is indeed on the settee next to me with his belly and 3 paws up in the air

Re: A happy hoppy ending?

Get well soon, Odile.

And then find some youngsters to help you posting pictures

Joking aside, I am so happy for this little kitty. I wish you many happy years together.

Re: A happy hoppy ending?

What a joy to find him so well on our return from y 3 week trip to the Cape. My neighbour did a great job.

He had to be treated foe ear mites before we left- and whislt away the fur on his ears started to go, so she went to vet and he diagnosed ring worm! Not sure about it myself- I think it is more likely to be an allergic reaction to the earmite treatment- but he is on a treatment for 25 days, just in case.

But all the fur has grown back on his amputated shoulder and it looks very 'natural' and he is so happy. Put on weight, and has become very playful and purrs like a locomotive and so so cuddly. He has even become fussy with his food ... the little blighter. When we found him he was eating potatoe peel and prawn shells from the compost!

Anyhow, a joy and a great success. Granchildren just can't wait to meet him. My dream is that him and 23 year old Pudding become friends- but somehow I don't think that will happen. He is keen- but she defo isn't having any of it.

Been taking lots of photos and posting on FB with the tablet- so will do so when he gets back - he is out enjoying the sunshine.
