Meerschweinchen? [guinea pigs as pets]

Hi,

My children are interested in adopting Meerschweinchen for pets. I wonder where can I buy Meerschweinchen, or any place that I can just apply to adopt them?

If Meerschweinchen is not an option, what about cats?

Thanks!

Re: Meerschweinchen?

Sometimes the animal rescue centres have Guinea pigs available for adoption and I believe there is a specific small animal/rodent shelter but I'll leave Meloncollie to give you the details for that.
Otherwise there are always Guinea pigs for sale in Qualipet. You need to have at least two of them.

They make lovely pets as they don't bite and are not nocturnal but as with all animals they are a responsibility and you need to be prepared to look after them properly.

Re: Meerschweinchen?

There's a pair of females looking for a new home at the Zurich refuge.

Re: Meerschweinchen?

Please, do not let the Meerschweinchen be the guinea pigs of your adventure in pet ownership.

Read first some information what they need, how they behave, what they love, and what they do not like:

Re: Meerschweinchen?

And remember you can only have seapigs in tandem according to Swiss law.
