Fostering cats/dogs?

Is fostering cats and dogs (or any pets) a possibility in CH? We've been without a pet (other than the fish tank), and I really miss having a four-legged around the house. We're not in a position to adopt a permanent family member, but I used to foster dogs and cats in Canada.

Kitten season is upcoming...so maybe you know of a shelter (ZH/AG area) that needs a hand?

Re: Fostering cats/dogs?

If you would be interested in fostering dogs, perhaps get in touch with Animal Happy End:
https://www.animal-happyend.ch/pflegestellen.html

If you are able to care for handicapped cats, you might contact Handicapcats:
https://www.handicapcats.ch/start/pflegestelle-werden/

Keep an eye on Tieronline, some groups post requests for foster homes:
https://www.tieronline.ch/tierhilfe/...llen-flugpaten

A quick google 'Pflegestelle Hunde/Katzen' - brings up several groups in need of foster homes. As I don't know many of these, I'll leave the search to you. Due diligence as you go forward, and all that.

Why not offer a service for people that want to go on holiday and need a pet-sitter ?

Re: Fostering cats/dogs?

Hello,

We live near Brugg and have a 3 years old Dalmatian. We have moved to Switzerland 6 months ago and we do not have a big network so we are looking for some "dog friends" that could host our Hugo occasionally. He is not fond of other dogs so placing him in dog pensions is not easy. If you are interested, please let me know. Have a nice day, Cosmina.

If Hugo is not fond of other dogs, is he not better off in a kennel where he can have his own space? Near you is this facility.

Depends on the kennels. The one we take ours to, he gets his own "sleep area" but during the day he plays out with the other dogs.

Many kennels offer that, others can separate the dogs all day, or as needed.

Re: Fostering cats/dogs?

Hello,

thank you. We have actually tried the A3 Tierferienplatz kennel near us and they are amazing. Hugo made so many friends there, it is unbelievable. They are really professional and have helped him to rediscover the joy of being around other dogs.
