[Rant] Zooplus can jump into the sea

Super frustrated by the latest Zooplus experience for getting dog food from them.

- Ordered on the 26th, not sent until the 2nd and I probably won't get it till the 6th or 7th at this rate.
- Ordered from Zooplus.ch but actually comes from Germany.. so I pay swiss prices why exactly?

Time to get away from these assholes.

The period between Christmas and the new year is not really the time to expect fantastic delivery service from anyone.

Perhaps the warehouse/admin/delivery people had a bit of a holiday too?

Re: [Rant] Zooplus can jump into the sea

I've been a Zooplus customer for many years - and I echo your frustration. They have dropped many of the products I regularly buy, supply seems erratic for others.

This however seems to reflect a trend in the Swiss pet product market. In the 20 years I have been here the market has gone from a dire selection of inferior brands to a sea change about 7-10 years ago where significantly more choice was available, including many premium products. But suddenly, perhaps in the the last year or so, it seems many of the 'good' products - largely niche suppliers - are disappearing.

---

I've started to contact Zooplus every time one of my favorites disappears. I usually get a form reply from the UK office along the lines of 'sorry, can't be helped' but in one case the product suddenly reappeared several months later. So I keep letting them know. Can't hurt to try.

---

I agree with Tom that you probably got caught in holiday delivery slowdown - but I wish that Zooplus would have published a holiday update to their delivery time page. Zooplus' fast delivery is one of their key selling points, after all.

I ordered from them for the first time yesterday.

My only reason to go for then is actually that Amazon doesn't ship wet cat food to Switzerland as they are way cheaper

You ordered on a Thursday, so first possible delivery date would be Monday, but they clearly mention it could also be Tuesday, however take in account Christmas many people also having taking of the Friday after Christmas, New Years day and the weekends and 6th/7th is to be expected.

Why would you care from where they ship? You order at a German firm and they clearly tell that they handle the import costs.

Totally misplaced rant imho.

Berchtoldstag was on the 2nd in Zürich so I can't see how they could deliver before the 3rd.

Every child knows only Santa delivers on Christmas. And even he might not.

Try Qualipet? We buy it in the store, but am pretty sure they also deliver to your door.

My normal ones are also painfully bad, but at the other end of the spectrum...;)

I ordered from .ch which meant the 30kg was c160CHF... if I ordered from .de it would have been €65. That's quite the difference given it all comes from the same warehouse and no swiss person touches this package except for DPD.

There were also 3 working days (27th,20th,31st) where the package wasn't moving and i am even excluding saturday. If it's your job to ship stuff around and you're planning to take these days off, you better make it super clear when I go through checkout or you're just useless.

If it’s coming from the same warehouse, maybe some of the cost is cross-border fees? EUR 160 would nudge it into the bracket which attracts such fees. Maybe not paid directly by you but it would be factored into the overall price.

Personally I’ve been very happy with ZooPlus for what it is. The food I buy is cheaper than in Qualipet or MaxiZoo and the chews I get are pretty much half the price. I occasionally get equipment there too as yet again the prices are significantly cheaper.

That could be covered by the difference in Swiss and German VAT.
