Cat stuff to give away...

Well, it happened: about a month ago did our cat disappear. We recently relocated and he either didnt take that well or was indeed stolen (which apparently happens more often than you think). I registered the loss with the official Tierschutz database, but so far no luck...

We decided against getting another cat and I have a ton of stuff I am happy to give away for free. The type of things every cat owner has... but are expensive to buy in CH: food bowls, toilet box, transport box, toys, scratching pole, cat fountain... anyone needs them?

No, I moved back from Luxembourg to Schwyz in April. Guess its time to update that setting somewhere... the cat might be on his way back to Luxembourg though.

A month is too soon to give up on your kitty! Imagine if it comes back home and all its stuff is just gone... It's your decision, of course, but I would give it a little more time.

If we were back in our house in Germany I would agree... but we moved. I kept him inside for a month so he gets used to the place and accepts it as his home. On the second occasion he runs off... not to be seen again. I am pretty sure he is not running around nearby. I have heard that pure bread cats get stolen in CH, so thats one possibility. The other one is that he went "back home". If he does will my former neighbours keep an eye out for him... but if he really made a 450km trip back will I find him a new home back in the village we lived... I wont drive him back for 5 hours just to make him run off again. I can see why a cat would prefer the villlage we previously lived in - lots of grassland to roam through and single houses with loads of sheds and garages to explore. Switzerland is a bit more concrete than that.

Hi, Treverus,

Sorry to hear about your cat!

What kind of scratching pole do you have? I'd like it if it is a tall one.

Thanks!

Sorry to hear this. Cats can be awesome survivors though, so if it heads to Luxembourg, you might yet hear in a few weeks.

Re: Cat stuff to give away...

I'm sorry to hear you don't have much hope. If he was indeed taken, I hope he is well looked after. Not much help to you, of course. I really wonder about people who think that's an ok thing to do. My mam also said she couldn't bear to lose another cat, so when mine disappeared many years ago, it was the first and only one. Totally understand your decision.

Reading more about your kitty now - poor thing! But a month, while a long time, isn't an impossible long time. I wish you (and your kitty) the best!
