Probably not....
Near where we lived in Yokohama there was a dog biscuit bakery.... http://www.bento.com/rev/2470.html
Funnily enough, our dogs still preferred the stuff we got from the regular bakery. |

It might work in Malaysia where a lot of residents adore cats.
By the way, the cat cookies and soup look rather delicious. I wouldn't mind being reborn as a cat -- most of them are so-ooooo pampered. |

I HONESTLY thought (when I saw the cat-brothel comment) that it was a place you brought your horny tomcat to have sex with neutered females.

I went to two different ones in Bangkok and they were both great. Heaps of cats wanting some play time while you have coffee and cake. And I believe there is one in Perth Australia, although I never went before moving over here.

| | Re: Cat Cafe
I've seen them in London, Paris and Krakow on my travels recently.
I visited one in Japan once. They sound nice but the reality isn't quite as good: you imagine being surrounded by 20 adorable purring cats, in fact they're mainly indifferent to the passing humans; many are asleep. Meanwhile all those cats means a crowded litter tray and with it the ever-present smell in the air, even if the café took care to hide their toilet behind a screen and the staff empty the troughs out as often as possible.
Big cities in Japan have a variety of animal cafés with rabbits and even owls and because there's no accounting for taste, reptiles as well.

I did not have the feeling that the cats enjoyed being touched by everyone and being carried around like dolls by kids. They looked more like "meh let's get it over with". Didn't feel right to me.

Would that be for English or Schweizer Deutsch speaking cats?
Here, it's not hard to find a friendly cat in the apartment house or outside who want attention when they feel like it.
This to me sounds like cat exploitation, sorry (and I'm not even a cat person).

Yeah, but if you cant have a cat in your flat, and the cats from the neighborhood are not that friendly, you are kind of running out of options | This user would like to thank martin959 for this useful post: | |

But as mentioned, I'm by no means to be taken as a benchmark.
There are better references on EF.

| | Cat Cafe in Zurich? What do you think?
Hi there!
I have been thinking for a while how come Switzerland doesn't have a Cat Cafe (one was planned last 2015 in Geneva but didnt push through) so I told myself it wouldn't hurt to dream and try opening one
Will start a survey soon but would be great to know what are english forumers thoughts on this. Is there a reason why we haven't had one yet?

Can't find any trace of the Geneva one, the domain name has expired it seems and nothing else coming up for other parts of Switzerland. Considering the woman who wanted to start the Geneva one only got 11 backers I doubt it went ahead.

A quick google shows that an application was made for a cat cafe in Bern, by a gentleman associated with a similar cafe in Germany.
Apparently there were regulatory hurdles, initially a rejection due to hygiene regulations, later addressed by a new concept. There were also Tierschutz concerns.
While several articles discussing the pending project come up, I do not see any mention of the cafe actually getting off the ground.
You can easily google the same articles, and perhaps try to contact the gentleman behind the project.
(I am uncomfortable with the whole concept, so am not going to post links.)

Thanks a lot meloncollie! Still new in the forum so not sure how to add this "thank you" points but I would add it once I figure it out. For some reason this Cat Cafe idea in Bern didnt show up when I was searching. Maybe because most articles were in German, currently looking it up and only Blue Cat restaurant is showing up but still search for some more.
It would be great to hear some cons about the concept as well but only if you are comfortable in sharing.
Wish you a nice day, thanks again
I contacted the facebook page and emailed the person who started the crowdfunding for the Cat cafe in Geneva but the email bounced back saying it wasnt working anymore.
