All I can find for Geneva is the same that meloncollie describes above, but with rivers running dry over there, it could all change.
Can you post a link please? We are planning to go for a bbq tonight but if its not allowed we of course will not

Edit: Found it. http://www.danger-incendie-foret.ch/...tion-actuelle/

As long as we use the city installed grills we are fine

Fire and fireworks ban in Urdorf (Zürich) as well, can not even grill on the Balkon.

On our walk this morning, I saw someone actually measuring the distance from the edge of the wood to his picnic grill. I kid you not.
Clearly a responsible person.

Personally, I wouldn't bother to measure.

As I understand it, open fire - wood or charcoal is not permitted - is that the same for you?

Define 'open fire'.

We are allowed all types of BBQ grill here in Wallisellen, North Zurich, but it comes with a warning to be careful. We had a bbq today and normally we light the grill under the trees in the garden, but not today.

We have the same rule as Meloncollie - no fire in or near the forests; a safety distance of 200m applies. Fireworks are going ahead here on Wednesday night, but I am wondering if that will change.

Re: August 1 and all that noise

Well color me gobsmacked - canton SZ has just banned private fireworks. Hallelujah! Thank you cantonal Powers-That-Be.

And that's not only the animal lover in me saying that - my neighborhood is bone dry.

(Although I admit that I've been especially worried about Hooligan's reaction to fireworks this year, as she has had seizures on 1 Aug in the past. But now we can breathe as sigh of relief.)

LU has banned private fireworks so as well.

By the way, the 20Min is running a ticker updating bans and restrictions:

Thank dog for that. I can't count how many fire engines went past our house yesterday.

Don't sigh completely, I'm afraid. There will still be numpties who set off at least one or two or even a dozen.

Silent as the grave here tonight.

Very weird, but good for the dogs.

It is, isn't it.

But it rained - it's gonna be one hell of a week-end

The official display by our Gemeinde still went ahead, and I can hear lots going off further south towards Meilen and Rapperswil.

Why? I can't imagine with the very little rain we had tonight it will change the status for fireworks or fires.

Never known a quiet August 1st. Its kind of eery how quiet it is out there.

Exactly this. I keep expecting something to happen to break the silence.

LOL, I heard that too. We live very far apart - so it must have been two culprits.

Fireworks going on full blast over here. The official ones were great, but now it’s just noise. My poor doggie is hiding in the bathroom. She didn’t even eat her supper tonight.

Re: August 1 and all that noise

A couple of bangs early evening, but those stopped quickly. I'm guessing whoever it was ended up on the receving end of Holy Wrath.

A short display over the lake, perhaps Rapperswil or thereabouts, likely professional.

A blissful 1 August.

(Bracing for the first weekend after the ban is lifted...)

Sorry to hear you were hit with the usual mess, Mélusine. Poor pup - it's so hard on them. Hope she recovers soon.
