Re: Quarantine period on Puppies coming into Switz
As you mentioned puppies rather than adult dogs - I just to want to emphasize this from the BVet link given by temiatwork:
In the case of puppies too young to have completed the vaccination course and eligibility period:
"Animals aged less than three months may only be imported into Switzerland from the EU unvacci-
nated if they are accompanied by and dependent upon their mothers or if a veterinary certificate can be
provided showing that they have been kept at the place where they were born since birth and have
never come into contact with wild animals which could have been exposed to an infection with rabies. "
If the dog you are importing is fully vaccinated according to the BVet requirements, this of course does not apply.
Also, please bear in mind that under the new Tierschutzgesetz you are required to complete the theory course before acquiring a dog if you are a first time dog owner. So, if that applies to you, best to get that out of the way well in advance of bringing your puppy home.
And, don't forget the practical course requirement - you and your puppy have to complete that within the first year of ownership.
Wishing you and your new pup all the best.
