| | Can anyone recommend an English speaking vet in Basel?
I got a cat about 3 weeks ago and her check up is due in March.
Could anyone recommend me a good vet in Basel? I'd really need an english speaking person too because my german is still very bad:-(
Thanks in advance!

Yep! Dr Voegtli, Kleintierpraktik (I believe) if you look it up in Google it is in the pfeffingerstrasse 42. I had my cat spayed here and they were the best!

Another decent vet for cats is Kleintierepraxis Sevogel near the Basel Hilton. All the vets I've met there speak English, and one of them is actually Australian.

It's a bit outside Basel, but we've been very happy with Dr. Renate Frey in Oberwil, she speaks perfect English http://www.pferdetierarzt.ch/pages/k...kleintiere.htm |

One of my kitties has a small growth that I'd like to get looked at. I know that visiting a vet is an experience that is likely to have me shouting "I've been Switzerlanded!" but forewarned is forearmed.
Can anyone tell me what a normal vet appointment usually costs around here? CHF100- for a routine visit?
I'm guessing, in my case, that the first visit will be an office visit with perhaps a fine-needle biopsy. If anyone has experience of something similar, I'd be grateful if you could share...

This is a very timely post for me since I'll be arriving on the 8th with my nine-month-old pup. I was thinking of this vet (since it's within walking distance of my future flat):
Kleintierpraxis Sevogel
Dr. med. Vet. Gabrielle Scheidegger
Nauenstrasse 41
4052 Basel
+41 (0) 61 373 38 88
So glad to hear that there is already a recommendation posted here for this clinic! Thanks very much.

I had my first appointment at Kleintierpraxis Sevogel yesterday afternoon and everything went very well. Winnifred now has her Swiss passport and preventive meds for the season and they will complete the chip registration with ANIS (fortunately, her existing chip was readable). Dr. Lisa Foreman is currently on maternity leave but the other staff there were great and were able to communicate in English.

We took our 10 week old puppy in to see Dr. Foreman for the first time today. We got her chip scanned, her second round of vaccinations and the puppy actually had fun. She didn't even notice the needles! Dr. Foreman was very helpful and informative and made our puppy incredibly comfortable.

I always take my cat to Kleintierepraxis Sevogel near the Basel Hilton. All staff there speak English. It's not that cheap,I mean even for cutting her nails they charged 14.90 CHF (now I learnt myself how to do it ) but it's very convenient to go there as it is close to my place.
I didn't have any issue with them but recently I've noticed that my sweetie has a caries in her tooth. I don't know whether she has pain or not but I was wondering how the vet missed noticing that when she always checks her mouth. I took my cat last time in September... maybe it appeared recently. |

Sevogel were very good about it, very caring and they refused payment at the time and insisted on letting me settle the charge at a later date.
I like them.

I like them. | | | | | Oh, I am really sorry to hear that. It is very sad...
Regarding Sevogel, I think they were nice to you and they did the right thing. I wasn't saying they are not sensitive to such cases.
I would recommend them myself to other people as they are all very nice.

The problem we faced was that our puppy is just 4.5 months old and finding someone to watch a puppy that young is difficult. We called the vet to see if they were able to watch her. Even though they were booked they spent the rest of the morning calling people they knew and were able to find someone for us. I am so thankful that we have such a thoughtful and caring vet who went completely out of their way to help us.
