Re: Pet Sitting Network

S.O.S.! Please help!!!! I will go for holiday from tomorrow morning 28 till 15 of December. I was agreed with someone, she said will look after my dog. But finally she wont be in the country, and she wanted to let someone else to take care of my dog. I was trusted in her, but i do not trust her anymore. Im very very upset and sad I have to leave with my dog with someone else. I have an oldish adorable medium brown poodle, he is calm and smart. He is ok with other dogs and cats too. And he is totally hausebroken and very handable. Here you can fotos of him:
https://www.facebook.com/kittimakeup...&__rev=1024226 Im totaly devastated! Please if you a dog lover and can give attention and some love to my dog till im not here please write me here or my email: [mod edit-email removed] And definiatly i will return this big favour any time. Thank you your attention.

Catsitter needed for 2 cats in Schaffhausen

Hi all,

Me and my partner are going to be away for two weeks from 20th of Dec to 5th of Jan and we desperately need someone to look after our two cats.
They are 2 years old brother and sister.
Naturally they would prefer staying home, so if you are local once a day visit to give them food and some company for a bit would do. But they have also been in care sometimes away from home, so that's an option too if you prefer taking them home with you.

They are super cudlly and sweet cats, very social and friendly.
If you can help, please send me a message.

I also don't mind taking care of cats (or dogs) myself for you as well, I love all animals.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Hi,
I am interested in doing an exchange for dogs while taking vacations. I live in Baden. I have a 2 year old male dachshund. He loves all people and hasn't ever had a problem with another dog. House trained.

I am in need of a sitter for 3 weeks over Christmas and into the New Year.

Please help! PM me [mod edit-email removed]

Re: Pet Sitting Network

We recently moved to Geneva for work and hope to remain here for 2-3 years. We are looking for other experienced and trustworthy individuals with whom to trade pet care. We can board a dog and check in on a cat/dog as long as your location is near our residence or on the way to work (Petit-Saconnex, Nations, Sécheron, Plainpalais). We would like to find someone to check in on our cat during times that we are away (food, water, a quick back scratch), and, more importantly, who would be able to look after our dog from time to time (i.e., stay in our apartment or board our dog).

Pet #1
Type of animal: Dog
Breed: Labrador Mix (40kg)
Age of animal: 5 years
Animal spayed? Yes
Gender: Male

Other: He is highly trained, but he has never lived in an apartment before and is experiencing separation anxiety post-move (he barks/cries when no-one is in the apartment). We are working with him on this - he is making improvement, but we can't take the risk of leaving him here alone. He gets along very well with other dogs, but he needs to feel comfortable with, and confident in, his handlers.

Pet #2
Type of animal: Cat
Breed: American short-hair
Age of animal: 10 years
Animal spayed? Yes
Gender: Male

Your environment
Apartment (6 rooms)
Garden? No, but large off-leash dog area across the street
Other animals: No, but we have 2 young humans (3 years-old, 1 year-old girls)
Your location: Genève 1209 (Petit-Saconnex)

We have been living in Schwerzenbach for 5 months and we are new in the country so we dont really know many people. We have a little pomeranian and we are looking for some one who love dogs and would like to take her in case we need to go away for max. 3 or 4 days every now and again. In exchange we could take care of your pet.

Pet #1
Type of animal: Dog
Breed: Pomeranian
Age of animal: 2years
Animal spayed? No
Gender: Female

Other: she is trained, but she has never lived in an apartment before and is experiencing separation anxiety post-move (she barks/cries when no-one is in the apartment). We are working with on this - he is making improvement, but we can't take the risk of leaving him here alone. She was living with other dogs back home but she is a bit scared of other dogs at first. After a while she gets along very well with other dogs, but she needs to feel comfortable with.

Your environment
Apartment (4rooms)
Garden? No, but a balcony
Other animals: No
Your location: Schwerzenbach (zurich)

Re: Pet Sitting Network

If there was a professional website that can manage this service for you, so you can be a member and register your pet and enter the info about the service that you need in an organized way... and even select sitters for your pet based on their profiles, location and rating (reviews) from their sitting history.

The sitting will be free, but the membership will be against a small yearly fee (for maintaining the website professionally). Would the people using this service here use this website?

There are two such sites already. The pet sitters for the most part are fee-based, but the concept is the same.

I do not use either, as one is required to pay membership fees upfront in order to review sitter profiles. One can read a few profiles of sitters as a taster before being blocked and asked to sign up - but honestly, what I have read for the most part tells me that paying for membership would be a waste of money. From what I have seen of profiles available to a non-member, few sitters offer the service I need - I've never seen anyone on either site that fits my profile.

To convince a client to pay for a service, one needs to show that one has what the client needs. Neither site do that very well.

(BTW - One of those sites was reported on in a recent KTipp for questionable practices wrt membership renewal.)

So... how would your service differ?

---

But honestly - You have an interesting idea, but this thread is for non-commercial sitting, to bring together folks willing to help each other out. Perhaps your question would be better posted in the Business or Marketplace sections.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

I am not targeting paid sitters. I myself have a pet, and I am an expat in Switzerland and my wife comes from Germany too. Many times during the year we want to go on trips or holidays and I end up paying a lot of money to take our pet with (including flight tickets), since it costs almost the same or less than a sitter.

And we wish that there was a platform to meet like-minded people who are also pet lovers. We can pat it forward and sit their pets for free during the time of their holidays (when we are home ourselves), and have someone return the favor (that is going around) and look after our pet when we are away.

But for that you need some kind of platform/website to organize this, and also see some ratings/reviews for potential sitters (based on their history with other members) that would make you comfortable leaving your beloved pet with them.

Which two websites are you referring to?

Re: Pet Sitting Network

As you think about your service, one of the things that bugs me about the other two sites is that one cannot filter on some things that are, at least to me, important criteria - thus wasting my time, and that of the sitter. For instance, I’d like to filter out sitters where there are children in the house, as that would be an inappropriate setting for my mutts* (However, I could also see that some sitters would not want to give this information out on a public website.)

I’m sure other users would have different criteria. As you do your research, perhaps ask potential users what filter criteria they would like to see. In fact, why not post your question in a separate thread, where other owners are more likely to see it and respond?

Anyway, wishing you all the best with this effort.

*I prefer to pay a sitter, as I have very specific requirements and expectations. And I am limited as to the kind of dog I can take in. So I’m probably not the kind of person you’d want. However, I’m intrigued by your idea, as I know all too well how dire the holiday care situation is for pet owners in Switzerland.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

It's now been a few years since I originally posted on this thread, the cats have gotten a bit older and we've moved to a new Kanton. Therefore we are looking for someone who could be a catsitter or exchange petsitting services with us in the Zug area (we are in Cham).

My Pets:
2 Cats, short-haired.
1 male, 1 female, both 14 years old. Strictly indoor cats, spayed/neutered, will work for food.

My environment:
Sorry cannot take other animals into our home but could exchange cat-sitting
services if someone in the area needs someone to come in to feed their cats while they're away...

Please PM if you are or know someone who would be available at the end of this month.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Hello!

I am looking for possibilities to swap my dog with other trustful dog owners during my holidays. I would be happy to get known to other dog owners with the same need. Please let me know if you are interested. Next time around first week of April i would like to go visit my homeland for a week about. And I go abroad about 3 or 4 times a year usually for one-one week or less. My dog is calm, relaxed, goes well with other dogs and cats too. But he is little bit sensitive, need some caress every day. He rarely bark and of course he never pees or .... in the flat. I just saying this because last time when i did dog swap, i got a dog who was peeing in the flat every day... So i thought its better if i write he doesn't.
My dog: Sasha
Breed: Medium Poodle (brown)
Age:11 years
Animal spayed: No
Gender: Male
My environment: Apartment with exelent location for walk (park and woods just next to me)
Any other pets: No
My location: Zurich

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Hello kittikaljuste,
Thank you for reaching out. I am very interested in trying to do dog swap. As I mentioned you I would need 2 weeks now in April and then if it works, we can continue. I would also be happy to take Sascha with me for 2 weeks. My dog is a 2 years-old beagle relatively quite. Needs to walk twice a day, is very clean but cannot be let walk alone because it is a hunting dog. I live in Staefa, in a house with a big and closed garden.
My telephone number of <removed>. Pls do reach out to me if you would like to meet and coordinate the details.
Thank you,
Clara

Re: Pet Sitting Network

I think this is a great idea. I reached out to 3 EF members to offer and ask some dog sitting and my requirements but nobody answers. How does this group work.
I would need some sitting for my 3 years old beagle from April 16 to may 2 and I would take someones dog in exchange whenever is needed. I live in Staefa in a big and fenced garden. I can walk twice a day with the dogs. Niki our beagle is very clean and behaves very well. She loves to sleep a lot! Let me know if someone is interested.
Thank you,
Clara
