Re: Pet Sitting Network

I have just moved to Bern [altstadt] and am in desperate need of a dogwalker/sitter for Sun 4 Sept and Wed 7 Sept. And I would be delighted to reciprocate here in Bern if anyone ever needed the same. Per the post requirements:

My pet
Type of animal: Dog
Breed: Mix
Age of animal: 18 months
Animal spayed? YES
Gender: Female 15 kilos [and as cute as a button!]

Your environment
Apartment?
Garden? NO - but a small balcony
Any other pets? NO
Your location - Bern altstadt

Any other information
Her name is Birdie. She is very good on the leash. Loves to run. No aggression whatsoever, even when food is involved. Has never bitten or even tried to bite anyone, even children who pull her ears. She is full of mischief, though, and will chase people barking all the while, which can freak people out. She loves other dogs.

My immediate need for this week: Sun and Wed 4 and 7 Sept, I need someone to come to the house to walk her several times while we are out at a christening and then a meeting.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Hello! This is a wonderful idea. We are new to the Zurich area (Adliswil) with our two cats and would love to meet someone where we can trade services.

Your pet
Type of animal: 2 cats (indoors only)
Age of animal: 2.5 years (2011)
Animal spayed: Yes

Your environment

House / Apartment?: Apartment
Garden: a small area where animals can go out
Any other pets: No
Your location: Adliswil, outside of Zurich

Other
As I mentioned, we are new to Zurich and looking to meet others where we can swap pet services. Our cats have not really been around other cats since they were much smaller. And they have only been around dogs a small bit, but mostly get scared and hide. They are indoor cats only. (unless this changes in the near future)

We are looking to go back to the US around the holidays. From around Dec 9-26 or so. Obviously planning in advance, but if anyone is interested in swapping services, please let me know by sending me a PM. We'd love to help you out of course too. Thank you!

Your pet
Type of animal: 1 cat
Breed mixed
Age of animal 1 year
Animal spayed? Yes
Gender female

Your environment

House / Apartment? Apartment
Garden? No, but a balcony near ground. A small jump for a cat.
Any other pets? No
Your location Zurich Höngg

Any other information
In my home I can take care of cats (for a short time, bacause I have no idea, how my cat Misu shall react) and small animals like gerbiles. Misu can stay overnight in a different room. Also indoor cats can stay in a working room while the balcony door is open. On Höngg area I can also visit your home to feed your pet.
At a moment I urgently need help to feed Misu on week 42 (15.-22.10.) and on Chritmas time for two weeks.

- Any other info about your pets needs will be great as well. This is for other owners to see if there is a match similar both pets lifestyles, before contacting you to pet sit.

This of course, will not involve money. Just provide your pet's food, bed, toys if need be. It will be similar to the concept of leaving your pet with a trusted friend and hopefully build up a support network of people who can help you look after your pet if you fancied a last minute getaway, that might not be convenient for your pet to come along, or need to make any emergency trips back to your home country.

Obviously, it will be nice to return the favour as well, down the road.

Just a thought - I am sure there will be other pointers that have not crossed my mind, please feel free to jump in with any comments or suggestions. If there is enough positive feedback, hopefully, we can ask the mods to make a sticky and get this off the ground.[/QUOTE]

Both cats quite chatty and good natured. Ginger Nige is a little timid but can be easily bribed with food. Black one is a little simple and loves everyone. Dont need much aside from food and water each day and a clean litter tray

Re: Pet Sitting Network

I amlooking for Pet Sitting-contacts in or near Dietikon ZH. I recently moved here from another town, and it would be nice to find some local people who can quickly pop by, when I am travelling.

Of course I would be happy to return the favour, by looking after your cat, rodent or fish.

Your pet
Type of animal: 2 Gerbils
Age of animal: 6 months
Gender: female

Your environment
House / Apartment? Apartment
Garden? No
Any other pets: No
Your location: Dietikon

Any other information
The gerbils are easy-going and do not require a lot of attention. Basically some food and fresh water every other day, less than 10 minutes work but it needs to be done. During holidays I could also bring the tank to your place.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Your pet:
Type of animal: 2 cats (Uxim and Sona)
Breed: european
Age of animal: 4 and 3 years
Animal spayed? Yes
Gender: Female

Your environment
House / Apartment? Apartment
Garden? no
Any other pets? No
Your location: Zurich Seefeld

Any other information
They are easy to care and just need a clean space to pee (Uxim is a little bit picky), they are used to stay alone for more than one week, just need someone to visit them every two days, feed them and clean their toilet.

I can take care of your pet but to leave it with us we should meet before, just to check how my cats react.

I have tons of experience with dogs too, speacially big ones, back home my parents have this "little buddies".

If you live nearby and need some one to take your dog for a walk (one day or two I'm not available for long periods or on a regular basis, I work! ) contact me.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Hello,
This does sound like a great idea; I wonder what people's experience has been with it.. (I'm still reading the posts; I imagine there will be some on that.)

Your pet
Type of animal: 1 dog & 1 cat
Breed: D: chow-collie mix; C: short-hair tabby
Age of animal: D: ~7 yrs. C: ~12 yrs.
Animal spayed/neutered? Yes, both.
Gender: D: female; C: male

Your environment
House / Apartment? Apartment
Garden? Yes, fenced.
Any other pets? No, just the two.
Your location Zurich, Zurichberg (Kreis 7)

Any other information
My partner and I are new to the Zurich area. Our pets aren't friendly to others of their species, but the two of them get along very well. (The cat starts peeing all over the place, "marking his territory", when there are other cats around; and the dog was a stray when we rescued her, and probably had been attacked by other dogs, so she's scared of them.) So, unfortunately, we can't take in other animals, nor would it be a great idea for others with cats or dogs to take them in. However, I'd be happy to visit your pets at their homes (I'm still looking for work), in return for the same, as long as it's within the area (as I don't have a car). I'd also be happy to take care of other mammals or birds (I've had mice, hamsters, squirrels, rabbits, canaries, finches, and parakeets as pets growing up); sorry, but I'm not reptile-friendly (with the exception of turtles).

Gender: female and male

Your environment

Garden? Yes a small one.
Any other pets? No, just the two.
Your location Zurich, Küsnacht (train s6 and s16)

Any other information
I really need someone 6 days for Christmas-holiday this year. I leave the country and would like to find someone who can feed the cats twice a day or take them to your house. They are use to small dogs but not so friendly with other cats. From January I will be able to help you with your cats, dogs and I also do babysitting. I only work 1-2 days a week.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Hey great idea,I just want to put my info in as well, especially since there are alot of dogs and cats dominating the list.

Your pet:
Type of animal: 1 Gerbil (Dan)
Breed: Mongolian
Age of animal: 2 years
Animal spayed? No
Gender Male

Your environment
House / Apartment? Apartment
Garden? No
Any other pets? No
Your location Zurich Höngg

Any other information
My gerbil is pretty easy to look after he only really needs a quick check up for food and water every day. He is quite tame and doesn't mind getting picked up as I usually bring him out of his cage at least once a day. He is easy to transport and can be brought to you. I'm a bit cautious of having him in a house with cats unless you have a separate room.

otherwise I love all kinds of animals (I literally grew up in the countryside with every kind of pet imaginable as it was my childhood dream to become a vet) and would be willing to house sit any dogs, cats or anything else that needing looking after(rodents, insects, reptiles). My apartment is quite small but I would have no problem taking on another small pet, probably not a cat though.

Im currently looking for a job so have a lot of free time, and pet and house sitting would be ideal. (going home for Christmas 21st - 5th)

Otherwise ill be going home to Ireland for Christmas(as mentioned) so if anyone is free from the 21st - 5th (2 weeks) to look after Dan that would be great.

We'd be happy to share pet-sitting with other Cavalier King Charles Spaniel owners. We have a baby on the way, and are really only comfortable with this breed because we know it so well - they are such small, calm dogs. I don't work, so I'd be able to take your dog out several times per day, as well as on a nice walk along with my little man. If you're interested, we can get together for our dogs to meet!
