Re: Pet Sitting Network

We've got a big "family:"
- 2 Dogs:
1 American Spitz, male, 10 years old, neutered, sweet natured
1 Pomeranian, male, 10 years old, neutered, a bit of a lap dog.
- 2 Cats:
1 Persian, female, 10 years old, spayed, independent
1 Himalayan, male, 8 years old, neutered, loves being around people
- 2 Parrots:
1 Congo African Grey, 20 years old, female, interested in people, but unpredictable.
1 Senegal, ~10 years old, male, also interested in people, but unpredictable.
Note: Anyone with a parrot knows that they are temperamental, so there are no absolutes. Might be lovely with visitors, might be devils. Depends on season, hormones, mood, alignment of the planets, whatever! ;-)

Where we Live: Big apartment with shared garden, so dogs always out for walks on leash. Cats and birds always indoors.

Location: Basel

Would love to find someone who could trade favor of looking in on pets. Dogs usually travel with us, but we need someone to stop by to feed birds. Or we'd like to fine a place where we might board the birds when we travel. Finding a qualified person who might house sit here in Basel would ideal!

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Your pet: none. (my base is still in the uk at the moment - on a farm in south devon!)
Your environment: House / Apartment? none. but i can come to you...
Your location: zurich

Any other information:
I am happy to come and care for your pet(s) or home if you are taking a weekend break or a holiday.
i love creatures and could help keep your animals in the routine they are accustomed!
i am trying to build a familiarity with zurich in short visits before i potentially relocate - meeting the locals out on a dogwalk or staying in different parts of town whilst helping people seems like a great way in...

Gender: female and male (brother and sister)

Your environment

We'd be happy to exchange pet-sitting services. Our cats have stayed with other cats previously already and that worked fine. We're currently looking for a home to our cats for 3.5 weeks from end of March through mid-April. Ideal would be if someone could take them into their house for that time as I think they'll get very lonely and bored if someone just comes once a day to feed them. They're very sociable and curious! Of course we'll need to see how they get along with other pets if they're to stay at your place or if we take in your pet. Please get in touch if you think you can help out in March-April, and we will gladly take care of your cat(s) when you're on holidays next time.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Sadly have to update our posting as we said goodbye to our little friend of 11 years, Mr. Blizzard. See below for the new information for our remaining cutie.

My pet
Type of animals: 1 dog
Breed: Samoyed (big white fluff ball)
Age of animal: 8 (we think - she's a rescue and not really sure)
Animal spayed/neutered: yes
Gender: Samoyed - female

My environment
Apartment - 3rd floor
Garden: no, but big grassy areas right outside the apt building. We take her for 2-3 pee breaks each day along with 2 walks/runs a day.
Any other pets: no
My location: Zurich-Richterswil

Any other information

Tundra is a total suck who will cuddle with you as long as you keep petting her! She is great with kids (including our 6 month old) but definitely likes calmer environments. Gets along with any non-aggressive dog. She does not do well if any anger is shown towards her - while we don't know her past it is obvious there was abuse and she is the most timid animal that needs to be shown love.

As we tend to go away for a few days every other month with one or two longer trips a year when I can bring my hubby and son with me on work trips, it might be nice to have Tundra spend some time with another dog now that she is missing her little brother.

Happy to puppy sit in exchange with a meeting of the two dogs and if your dog has been around babies and has no aggression issues with little kids.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

This is a great idea!

My pet
Type of animals: 2 dogs
Breed: Beagle (13 Kg) Sheltie (8kg) he's little!
Age of animal:both are 7 years old
Animal spayed/neutered: yes
Gender: Beagle-F Sheltie-M

My environment: Attached home
Garden: yes-large patio/garden with special spots to potty! Plus in Stäfa there are lots of beautiful trails for long daily walks!
My location: Stäfa-just north of Rapperswil, south of Meilen

Any other information: My husband travels a lot and I am not working, so I am happy to care for pets when you travel, but also would like same in exchange. I can come to your pet-if you are not too far away, or would take into my house. My beagle would torment a cat trying to constantly play, so that is probably not a good idea! Both of my dogs take daily medication, just thrown into their food, but otherwise are pretty easy. We would love someone wanting to trade off care-just feeding, visits and walks...as right now it would be a couple days that I am wanting to travel with my husband.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

What an excellent idea - we moved to Rapperswil, SG in Mid Feb and are looking for someone who can either pop in and feed our cat if we go away for long weekends or potentially have our cat move in with them for longer breaks. In return I am very happy to feed/walk and house or house visit dogs or cats.

Your Pet.
type of pet: 1 cat
breed: blue British Sorthair
age of pet: nearly 2 years old
spayed? Yes, female

Your environment:
Flat on second floor but more like 1st floor in height. With large balcony and rood terrace. Lots of excellent walks nearby for dogs. In the uk I have had dogs all my life, mainly springer spaniels, flat coat retrievers and shin tzu's but very capable with any breed of dog. Happy to house dogs or cats or drive to your house to look after your pets.

Thank you for the great idea.

Please pm me if anyone is local and can help us with our lovely cat or if they want help.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Your Pet.
type of pet: 1 cat
breed: Siberian??? (rescue, so don't really know)
age of pet: 18 (old enough that she's started to go deaf)
spayed? Yes, female

Your environment: large room in a house-turned-apartment building

I have to make a last-minute request for a cat-sitter. My place or yours is fine, though my hosts, who are the reason my search is last-minute, would prefer that the cat be re-located during my trip. I am leaving tomorrow (Friday) night for a two week trip to France. Is anyone in or near the Brugg area able to help me out? I'm happy to return the favour, of course, or even pay you for your trouble.

Disclaimer: within a two week period, she'll probably barf at least once. She has a condition.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Greetings!

We just moved from Chicago, IL, USA to Zurich.

Here's a bit about our dog:
Bailey
Dog
American Cocker Spaniel - 25lb
7 years old (we've had him since he was a puppy)
He is a neutered male.

We live in an apartment on the top floor with a balcony and large shared yard. There is a trail up the street that goes along the river and around the mountain with plenty of space for long dog walks. I work from home so am home throughout most of the day.

We don't have other pets. Bailey gets along with other dogs, preferably small or medium sized dogs.

We live in 8044 Zurich (above the University and south of the Zoo).

As of now, we don't have vacations planned yet although are looking for a dog-walking when I'm out of town the last week of June. But in the meantime, happy to watch your pup!

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Hi. I am looking for someone to Pet sit our dog in their home from July 26th-Aug15th. We are willing to pay as well.

Type of animals: Labradoodle (black)
Age of animal: 4
Animal spayed/neutered: yes
Gender: female

MY ENVIRONMENT
Flat on the 3rd floor
Garden: no but we have two decks and our home is spacious
Any other pets: no
My location: Birsfelden near Basel

Our dog is very easy going and is not hyper. She loves being around people and going on walks. She was attacked by a big dog so when she is on a leash she gets in a protective mode by barking or wanting to lunge at another dog. However, when she is off the leash she loves playing with any size dog. Very good with children.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Love this idea! Here are our details:

Your pet
Type of animal: dog
Breed: Old English Sheepdog (Bobtail)
Age of animal: 8 years
Animal spayed? yes
Gender: Female

Your environment

House / Apartment: House
Garden: Yes
Any other pets: No
Your location: Stetten, Schaffhausen
*Additional note: We have 2 young-ish boys (4 1/2 and 7), so we would prefer that any pets we keep here are accustomed to children.

We'd be happy to exchange pet-sitting with folks. Toby is accustomed to spending time with cats and dogs and is really relaxed around them (after the initial 5 minutes of excitement ). If you need to exchange pet-sitting services it's easiest for us to keep pets in our house. Excited about this possibility!
