Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

We still use http://www.buesi.ch/ and are very happy with them, I think the current price is 25 for the first cat per day and a reduced rate for a 2nd or 3rd cat if you have them.

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Hi,

Since this is a thread about Cat boarding/care, I hope you guys can help.

Do any of you happen to know of a cat groomer? In Zurich, of course.
Or a place that provides cat grooming services?

We have a long-haired cat that needs 'work' on his coat.

Thanks!

Re: Cat care during holidays - any suggestions

Hiya

Just wondered whether there are any suggestions as to where to start looking for cat home-visiting service that we can use when we are on holiday? Cant use a 'cat hotel', as my two fur-balls reject the suggestion that they are actually...cats. We live in Meilen and for once I am trying to plan ahead for the Christmas period when we will be in Dublin. Would anyone living locally (or commutable) be willing to care for our cats while we are away in exchange for cat/dog care at another time?

Thanks a mil

Annie

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

For good in-home care, a friend recommended these people to me:

http://www.help-angels.ch/

I haven't tried them yet, but they sound good from what she said about the care of her 2 cats.

Have you looked here? Or seen this site? I expect you'd prefer personal recommendations... Sorry, can't help there.

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

We just found someone who also offers a cat sitting service at her home (although she also offers to do house visits). Unfortunately her website is only in German, but she does speak English.

And we will be leaving our baby (read: kitty) with her for 7 days starting next week.

She only takes care of one customer at a time, so you cat or cats will not have to stress over hanging out with 'strangers' - i.e. other people's cats.

Her website is:

www.buesiferien.ch

and she lives in Kreis 5 just a few blocks away from Limmatplatz

Prices are:

35 Fr for the first cat / 25 Fr for the second cat / 20 Fr for the third

She provides dry food and kitty litter. So if your cat eats 'soft' food like ours you will have to provide that for the entire time your kitty will stay with her.

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Hi Leyla. I hope she is able to help you too. I looked at many other cat hotels but most are quite a drive away from the city and / or I was not quite convinced by the look and info given at their websites - and for what most of them charge I'd rather pay a little more and know our cat is the only one being looked after. I spoke to her today a few times on the phone to make arrangements and she sounds nice and caring.

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

When we also need care for our cat, we asked our local vet for a recommendation. He gave the name of someone who will come to the house for $25/day.

We did not do that the first time but chose to board at the local cattery instead (for 2 weeks). It was very nice but our cat did not handle it well and went on hunger strike. They did not call us to tell us this, and we were startled when we picked him up. We are now feeding him beautiful tilapia filets to help him regain his weight. He is an older cat, 15yrs (inside only) and alone since he was part of a pair and the other cat has already died.

Long story short - I would not board him again and when we leave for Christmas I will have the cat sitter come to our apt. The only reason we did not choose her the first time is because our German was not good enough to communicate very well, we tried MUCH harder this time

We are happy to trade pet sitting services (see my other post), but are in Schaffhausen.

If you cannot find someone to come to your apt, I could care for them in my home ( Zurich city is a bit far). We have 1 cat and 1 (well behaved) dog already, but a three bedroom flat so there is lots of space. One of us is usually home all day. I could come to pick them up (on a weekend) from your sister when she leaves.

Wow,,CHF 35 per day. I usually ask one of my neighbours to feed my cat when I have to leave for a couple of days,,in return I feed their cats when they leave on vacation. Very simple. How much work is there to do with a cat? They eat, sleep and use the bathroom. 5 minutes work a day. No, CHF 35 a day is a ripp off. Cats also hate to leave their own home, I tried a Pet Hotel once,,and that was a big mistake.

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Dear Edwina

You are right - of course it would be a little too high a price if Büsiferien provided their guests only with 5 minutes attention per day!..

But, be assured: as the pictures (http://buesiferien.ch/bilder/impressionen.html) of all my guests so far show, I do everything to make my guests feel safe, happy and comfortable - and it works! And when they come to my place the next time, they seem to think: "Oh, I see, I am here again, fine!". Since there are no disturbing factors as other cats, my guests usually adapt fairly quickly to the new environment.

I would love to provide you with information in English! Who would like to help me translate my website? In return, I'll take care of your cat(s) during 7 days for free!

Kind regards, Buesifee (that means cat fairy )

Hi everyone,
I live in Zurich 8001. I travel a lot but when I am in town I could help you with the cat. I have a cat too. I don't need any money. I would need your help with my cat in return when I am away. I have a big flat right in the center and your cat can stay with me.
By the way I am going away on the 13th of December untill the 2nd of January. Can anyone help me with my cat?

Best regards,
Irina

Hi Nancyblue,
Thank you for your offer!
Sorry for coming back to you so late. I was traveling a lot lately and now I am finally back in Zurich. I am leaving again on the 16th of December until the 4th of January. Do you still have an opportunity to take care of my cat in exchange for the same favor? Please call me on 0796176925.
Best regards,
Irina

Hi Buesifee and all others

Google Translate does a great job of translating your site (translate.google.com).

We are looking for someone to come and help feed our cats at our home once a day for this coming Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Please let us know if you have any up to date recommendations and guide prices.

Thanks
Nick

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

Hello!
I can recommend Katzenhotel Ermitage in Kuesnacht, ZH. www.katzenhotel-ermitage.ch
Last February we had to travel for almost 5 weeks and we were going crazy looking for someone to care for our newly adopted cat (the neighbors abandoned her just before Christmas...).
I was completely against the idea of leaving our little one in a hotel, but then we visited this place and found it quite charming. The owner is a sweet brasilian girl and the place is cozy and very clean, cats are not in cages at all, they live in a big room full of amenities and have access to a safe garden. The other cat-guests looked quite happy so we really got a good feeling about this place.
Our kittie stayed there 5 long weeks and we found her happy and relaxed. It was not cheap (we got a special price of 25Chf per day) but it was worth it. (A cat-sitter is much more expensive). I hope this helps!

Re: Cat [boarding/]care [Zurich]

I don't understand why you have the pay for every cat when you get a cat home-visitor or whatever they are called. Quite honestly the work involved is almost the same. I always had cats, still have. One and 3 cats is practically the same commitment. Same time involved, same litter change...! anyway, I live in Volketswil. If anyone needs my help with cat home visits, PM me. I have a cat and a dog...they are my babies. I can keep you cat at my place or come to you rplace to cuddle him feed him and whatever he/she needs.

Hi
Rather than starting a new thread. Are there are any cattery's that you can recommend to me for an outdoor cat?
Do you know if the names mentioned in the thread here are still valid?
And what is the correct German term for a cattery, here in Lux it's animal pension.
thanks
