Reminder: The SKN Transitional Period

Just a reminder for all who have added a dog to the family after 1 Sept 2008:

The transitional period for obligatory training classes (the Sachkundenachweis - SKN), required now under the TschV, comes to an end 1 Sept 2010. After that date, the local authorities can ask you to prove that you have taken the course, and might issue a fine if you are not compliant.

So if you have not yet taken the course(s), best get going!

Re: Reminder: The SKN Transitional Period

Just read a recent article about a woman who was fined for not taking the course.
It seems the veterinarian reported her.

Timely reminder, Mrs D!

While perusing the Tierschutzstraffälle database (found on TIR, looking for something else when it caught my eye), I noticed that a number of fines, in various cantons, have been issues for SKN non-compliance.

Re: Reminder: The SKN Transitional Period

I don't know why people don't do it. It is neither difficult to arrange nor expensive but is very useful and of course a necessity. We did ours a few weeks ago and found it very interesting and helpful. We used animal sense in baar which was excellent and can be done in English. Next stop getting our dog and doing the practical part. Can't wait! If anyone is interested in dog walking in the baar area please let me know as I currently don't have any other doggy friends!

Hi Sophie

Yeah, we found it pretty interesting and useful too. Then again, we were in the same class, weren't we? ;-)

Cheers
