Not sure if this is the right spot but here goes:
The Animal Hospital in Zurich (Tierspital UZH) has reduced admission hours for walk-in patients, effective 9 January 2017. This is because they have chosen to implement a 50 hour week for the vets (sensible IMO), leading to fewer human resources.
The new opening hours for walk-in patients, including emergencies during the week are from 7.30 to 17.00; owners are asked to call ahead on Tel. +41 44 635 81 12. Between 17.00 and 7.30 as well as on weekends they only accept animals that are referred from another doctor/emergency service or those that were recently treated at the Tierspital and whose condition has deteriorated.
In all cases, pet owners that arrive at the Tierspital between 7.30 and 17.00 on a weekday without being referred by another doctor will have to pay an additional emergency services fee of CHF 150. Anyone arriving outside those hours or on a weekend will be charged a CHF 200 emergency services fee, regardless of any referral. | Quote: | | | | From the Tierspital USZ website (on 18 January 2017) Notfall Notfall unter der Woche:
07:30-17:00 Uhr: Bitte melden Sie sich vorher unter Tel. +41 44 635 81 12 an.

Solution: hire more vets! |

hi all, I am looking for an excellent vet max. 20 min drive from Kloten.
I have a 13 years old dog who developed respiratory issues year and a half ago and she does not do well in cars anymore. So driving her 50-60 min to her vet in AG isn't an option anymore.
We just found a blood in her urine and I would like to take her to the vet asap. Her other vet (a specialist at Tierspital ZH) is on holidays for the next 2 weeks so I am totally lost now.
Can anyone recommend an excellent vet at our part of canton Zh? I would prefer an ECVIM-CA specialist.
Thank you so much!

We have been to Dr. Gardelle at Vet Image several times. He performs ultrasound at his office which is part of the Tierarztpraxis Rohner in Niederglatt.
Address is Seeblerstrasse 5, 8172 Niederglatt
044 851 8070 www.tierarztpraxis-rohner.ch
I should have added that I do not know any of the vets there personally other than Dr. Gardelle.

Ulaula, is Regensdorf too far?
If not too far, you might look into Bessy's Kleintierklinik. I see that one of their vets, Dr Bettina Wenger, is an ECVIM-CA diplomate. This is a fairly large clinic. http://bessys.ch/das-bessy-s-team/dr...iggenbach.html
NOW...
I do not have personal experience of this clinic, I know of it through a colleague who speaks highly of them.
---
Alternatively, could another specialist at the Tierspital see your girl? Several of the senior vets are ECVIM-CA. If you have trouble getting a direct appointment with a senior vet on your own, have your local vet do a referral.
---
We'll keep our paws crossed for your girl.

Regensdorf would be okay as well in terms of travel time.
I only know Dr. Curd from this clinic as she is an avian vet.

Highly recommend:
Kleintierklinik in Oberstrass, Kreis 6, Zurich
Spyristrasse 8 · 044 361 55 11
We originally went there as the Tierheim where we adopted our dog used them. Certainly not the cheapest but the care our furry friend receives is always excellent. Speak v good English too if needed. http://www.klein-tierklinik.ch | This user would like to thank Massa for this useful post: | |

My vet has started his own practice in Muttenz.
In my opinion, an excellent vet, very knowledgeable and not out to fleece anyone ( unless you have a sheep that needs fleecing).
My last interaction was a broken dew claw, he gave me the full explanation of dew claws and their usual injuries.
Fortunately injury this was fixed easily, so only CHF 45. http://www.kleintierpraxis-maute.ch/...-tierbesitzer/ | This user would like to thank Fish Paste for this useful post: | |

They're not far from Horgen. I'm sure there are nice vets in Horgen, however I know Leu and they're a wonderful wife/husband practice. Here is a link |

Recently moved to Bern found these vets, was very impressed even though the very first visit ended up with one of our cats having to be put to sleep, be he'd had a very good life and it was the right thing to do.
A few days later we received a sympathy card from them written in English.
They are also the emergency vets for the area.
