To rent: spacious & beautiful 3 room apartment in Zurich Enge (1 March onwards)

I will move within Zurich soon and am looking for someone to take over this truly lovely apartment (link below, with photos) from 1 March.

Pros: Extremely quiet parklike location yet in only 4 minutes you'll have walked to Enge station or the trams via a shortcut. The only apartment of its floor (2nd) = light from all sides. Great views - especially from the rooftop terrace. Huuuge kitchen, all rooms are really spacious. Own washer/tumbler, etc etc.

Cons: well... it's not exactly cheap (3950/month incl Nebenkosten). No lift. To get to the rooftop, 2 more flights of stairs to go up and the last bit is a bit steep. Outdoor stairs too if you're using the footpath shortcut from the station. Church bells: yes, though I got thoroughly used to them... Nothing else comes to mind, the place is lovely!

Holy moly, 4000 CHF is really expensive for a flat of that size in Enge... especially with no lift and low accessibility. When was it last renovated?

My thoughts exactly (especially for an "altbau" apartment). I am living in the same area, in a place that's bigger and only two years old, but pay a few hundreds less...

I think it's the location (surrounded by trees on all sides, light floods in from all sides) that makes it a bit special... I don't know the exact renovation date - 2014 or earlier from what I can tell - but things look pretty new.

Usually "altbau" means something pretty nice in Swiss German - just so you know e.g. around 100 years old, high ceilings. thick walls, full of character...
If it's been renovated and in the right area could be a jewel.

Wouldn't personally be able, or willing to pay this price

Pretty nice bargain price that should come with it, especially.

But that's just a total ripoff. Even brand new apartments that Credit Suisse built in Enge specifically for a richer crowd are going on for quite a bit cheaper than that: http://escherpark.wincasaweb.ch/wohnungen.asp?LaId=1031

Most property ends up being advertised on homegate, and it allows you to filter by construction year.

Hi

Your place looks lovely and it's perfectly aligned with our moving timing.
We (my husband, our baby and myself) are relocating from London to Zurich and we would like to view the place on the first of February.

Would that work for you?

Thanks
Malika

I'll ignore the richer crowd part, but that's the one I meant / where I'm living.

Re: To rent: spacious & beautiful 3 room apartment in Zurich Enge (1 March onwards)

They tore down dozens of low rent Altbau houses to build that quartier! With sky high rent increase as a natural result. Many families which used to live there can't afford the rebuilt houses and were forced to relocate further away

I wouldn't say sky high, it's simply the price one pays nowadays for a new place in Enge.
I do agree it's more than what I think I should pay for an apartment, but unfortunately that's just how the market works.
