You don't say if it's a buffet or not, but I assume it will be everyone orders what they want themselves. | | | | | No problem. A few spaces still
Not buffet. Only Jays great daily changing menu.
See you in a bit

Top night, good folks, good food! Is it just me, or are we getting more grown-up lately at these curries? Was good craic!

On of these days the slammer will make his famous weaponized "caustic-alien-blood-atomic-death-curry" It may set off the chemical detectors at Ciba and be a steep learning curve for the gut however and if only the strong survive methinks you will like it.
Twas a great evening last night and now I can put faces to names of the Basel-gang.
Looking forward to next months curryfix.

Best bit was seeing a strapping Northern lad drinking whisky sours out of a gay looking glass
Top night Pat. Thanks for organising!

Next time I'm only ordering beer (or at least nothing with an umbrella in it)
Thanks again for organising, had a really good night!

Hmmmm....how best to phrase this? TBH the curry nights for me aren't all what they used to be. Sure the people are still nice but they seem to lack the atmosphere that they used to have.
I'm not keen on going anymore so it seems daft for me to organise them. Plus you have to have a lot of passion for them for doing a pretty rubbish job at times.
Mimi has retired her curry hat and is going to focus on summer bbq's and trips to Europa Park as I still love doing those.
Sorry guys for being lame |

I guess it works out pretty expensive for me now with babysitters and I don't like mirfield staying at home to babysit as it doesn't seem fair (although I know he doesn't mind). I guess I'm just all curried out
The time they take to organise is a bit of an issue too with work, life and a toddler I'm exhausted. I suppose I just want to spend my nights out now with just my friends (you included and many others) rather than some friends and people I don't know. Not that any of the new people I have met are not lovely.
Anyway, let's not turn it into a mimi curry flounce and just see who takes the reigns |

Pity.
Unfortunately I can't organize a curry anytime soon, since I have my German classes on Wednesdays.

You know its weird because i love to organize things but i never got really into it here. I could prob plan a curry or two if people are still interested in them. Mimi i will be in touch to get the details of how you arrange maybe.

I normally use this website: http://www.basel-restaurants.ch/english/index.html
The Indian restaurants come under "Exotic". Most of the restaurants link their website and email address here. I then email them in English and book a table for around 20 people. I always warn them the numbers may fluctuate slightly. Then I give them a call once they confirm it to explain a bit about the reason for booking (most of them know about us by now and know me so I had stopped this part but it's probably a good idea for a new person to do this for a while). A few days before I'll contact again to give them an indication of how many it is likely to be and then on the day I call them around 5pm to give final (ish) numbers.
Some people liked the idea of arranged buffets. This can be done at 90% of the restaurants but for me it was always a headache as if people didn't turn up they still charged per head and this cost was either split across the whole group or I (and my friends) got stuck with the bill. Totally up to the new organiser though
On the night, arrange a meeting point at one of the lovely drinking establishments in Basel, round everyone up and head to the restaurant. I kept an eye out for any newbies and made sure I introduced myself and a few other people to make them feel welcome.
