I am sure the intention was there, you know the Swiss, perfectionists, maybe he was afraid of not understanding. I guess a pressure to perform, etc. no malice.
But if he posts here a local post office PO box address, we can send him a card of some small gift, what do people think...?

I would send a card.
Happy Birthday Bertrand.

Ok, Bertrand, so where is the nearest post office PO Box? So we can send cards...I will write mine in awful French!
My written french is as bad or worse than my spoken french, but I will also try.
You know Bertrand, perhaps the best way to get to feeling comfortable in spoken English is to meet up with an English speaker who wants to learn french. Then you can trade languages whilst no one is at a disadvantage. You'd both stand to benefit!

Bertrand, si j'étais près de chez toi, j'y serais à ton party. Ne laisse pas la timidité prendre le dessus.
You have to push your limit, this is what it makes a little step at the time become a real accomplishment. I know it is difficult for you and I understand what you have to deal with, but you have to give yourself a chance and get out and be a bit uncomfortable. You'll find out quick that it was not as difficult as you thought, and you'll feel stronger! That will give you a hell lot more self-confidence!
Bisou!

It's correct, I'm putting a lots of pressure on me

That's the main idea of my presence on expat forums...

Correct. I'm pushing my limit each time I go out. Even if I'm under medication, I have to push my limit. A friend told me once to not push too much at one time.....
If you signed up here in the forum to meet people and you know them from posting, it's not like it will be a huge adjustment..Do it on the weekend, more people will come. If you are disappointed that somebody you had in mind when you announced this and this person is not coming, I understand. That's life. But birthdays are to be celebrated. Let us know how warm/cold your feet are about this.
I appreciate people here, that's why I did this invitation, having the desire to share a nice evening. And there's no disappointement but about myself not being able to deal with the anticipation anxiety and all the stuff that goes with.
I have already planned something else, and I will have a nice evening with other people.
Happy Birthday Bertrand. Btw: my favorite philosopher was also Bertrand Russell. Congrats on your 42yrs of age and reaching such fabulous number. Think of it this way 3 x 14(young fellow), so today I'm three times wiser than a teenager with more experience in life or 25 + 17 yrs I'm only 17 years older than my best age
Either way, we raise a toast to your bday and pls remember not be afraid of the Effers. Some of us might bite but in general we won't!
Bon
anniversaire!
Joyeux
anniversaire !
