I won't get there until 6:30pm to 7pm.
Ask for 'Peter' at the bar...... he's the only bloke working there with an Aussie accent.

Hello everyone,
I have seen there is a group of Aussies going to El lokal for Aussie day tonight, I do hope you have a good time. I am not trying ty hijack your event, but I will offer a second option. I am an Aussie and I run the Oliver Twist, we are also having an Australia day party we have done so for the last 15 years or so and if anyone was here last year they will tell you how much fun it was. a quick run down of the program.
Two Up around 7:45ish (15 mins)
Pub Trivia around 8:30 (15 mins)
Horse Racing 9:15 (1 hour but 3 sets of 5 mins with 15 mins between 3 races)
Fashions of the field judged between race 2 and 3(best dressed Aussie)
Know your Anthem 1030 (10 mins)
Aussie music all night.
We will have meat pies, Vegemite toast, VB, and loads more.
Anyone who can show some Aussie ID (or sound Aussie enough) will get the first beer on me.
The staff tonight(all Aussies) will donate all thier tips to the flood relief in Aus, and I will start the night off with a CHF200.00 donation. I will also donate all the profit the pies to the flood appeal.
So if you are an Aussie looking for a bit of a laugh tonight or if you have been to Aus or are thinking of going to Aus come in and join us for a great party tonight and happy Australia day everyone.
Cheers Brendan.

Dropped by just before 8:30 and no one around. Bartender said you guys had disappeared/left. Guess the Twist was ironically the better choice after all.

Sorry mate,
The owner of "El Lokal" made an inexcusable decision to cann all festivities associated with Australia Day.
I was not aware. I had called, texted, etc. no information to be advised otherwise.
Upon arrival, I discovered that none of the before mentioned promises were to be realised.
I decided to hang around until a bit after 8pm to gather most of the troops and send them to Brendans gathering at Olivers Twist.
It is not the fault of the barkeeper who organised this, but the blame is placed squarely on the owner of the pub.
Failing to advise me with over 30 people invited is completely inexcusable.
I'm glad that most people turned up within 8pm and we could all be transfered to the Twist.
Brendan definitely put on a good show, and this should not be forgotten for the upcoming ANZAC day festivities in April.
Thanks so much for all those who did make the effort, and my most sincere appologies to those who I could not rescue from the completely incompetent and incomprehesible rude attitude of the owner of El Lokal

Good meeting you Bill. Sorry we didn't end up heading to the twist the, mate we were waiting for sent me a message at 11 saying that he was bailing and at that time I was hammered as hell. Spewing that the owner bailed on the festivities. The aussie bloke behind the bar was pissed off too.
Next time I go out drinking, im eating something first |

To lose 20 or so people on a wednesday night (usually quiet in zurich), who are willing to drink a shitload of booze and fill their tills with money is beyond my comprehension, sorry.
