Re: [Zürich] Tennis on Saturdays

OK... I assume no "official tennis event" Tomorrow (Saturday April 30th).
If the weather will be nice and my back pain will go away, I will maybe post if anybody is interested to play this weekend.
Ciao

you'd need to call in advance to get a reservation for the courts

Tennisanlage Mythenquai
Phone 044 202 32 43.

Remember, if there is good weather there will be dozens of people having the same idea, so you better reserve in advance.

sorry about tomorrow, but I am going to Geneva for the "Tour de Romandie"

also next weekend i will be in Torino and Parma for the Giro, so I will not be able to organise something for you.

Re: [Zürich] Tennis on Saturdays

Dear All,

It seems there is an enthusiastic tennis community out there looking to play regularly. Thanks to SL for starting the event, now let's all chip in to make this a "jour-fixe".

I envision a 2 hour tennis event every Saturday, as SL has already started. To make it happen, I would suggest the following:
1) Please send me your emails. I will then create a long list of tennis fans. This list will be used to update you on the upcoming events every week. You can then easily sign up, or let us know if you are not availble.
2) In addition to the great outdoor courts we have at Mythenquai, lets also find a good indoor location. Any ideas, just pm me. Like this we can play everyweekend, no matter the weather.

Let me know what you think guys. I would love to see this become a "routine" and meeting place for tennis fans.

Best,
R.

Re: [Zürich] Tennis on Saturdays

I did organise these events for 2 years, then I took a sabatical.

This year I want to come and play but I don't want to be the organiser. I have often other things to do on saturdays, so I can't be the perenial organiser.

We need a volontary, or many to pick up the organisation tasks.

the procedure to organise the tennis events is simple.

1. open the thread on sunday for RSVP
2. check on wednesday evening how many have reserved
3. have a look at the weather forecast-
4. opt to be optimistic or pesimistic about the final number on saturday and how many courts you'll need
5. call on thursday the Mythenquai Tennisanlage an make the reservation
6. Be on Saturday 10 minutes before the time to meet the participants
7. play.

Re: [Zürich] Tennis on Saturdays

Thanks, SL. these steps are very straight forward.

I was not sure if this platform, or an email list would be better suited. what is your opinion on this?
I thought through email, people do not need to check back here, but would get a notification in their inbox from myself every sunday, a reminder on tuesday, and then on wed we close the books as you described above.

Further, as I would like to make this regular, we also need indoor courts to play at bad weather. so far i only found on in schlieren that seems very good (vivits or so). Any other ideas.

Best,
R.

Re: [Zürich] Tennis on Saturdays

email list or personal phone lists do work for sure,

but so do the contact lists posted at the public Tennis Instalations, if you wish to play you just have to write your name phone an level there and you'll get calls to play.

These events were targeted to the english speaking community here.

Re: [Zürich] Tennis on Saturdays

Hi there! Any tennis "event" organized for the coming weekend? If not, I would still be interested to play somewhere in Zurich area, I am pretty flexible. I saw a lot of messages about "classified players"... OK, I am 37 now, I have never participated to any tournament, I took lessons when I was 12-14 years old and then I played with friends for fun. I was "not too bad" but I didn't play a lot for 10 years (yes, ten years) but now I would like to re-start playing possibly once a week. So I am looking for someone who wants to enjoy playing, maybe get to a better shape match after match and not too competitive... I hope not all tennis players in Zurich are super professional! If someone is interested to play, just send me a MP.
Ciao!
Lorenzo

Re: [Zürich] Tennis on Saturdays

Maybe still possible to find a court "last minute" late afternoon. Weather forestast for Tomorrow (Sunday 22nd) is not great but maybe still possible to play... I would be available almost the whole day. Very spontaneous decision is fine too. Send me a PM if interested.

Re: [Zürich] Tennis on Saturdays

I would be up for a game on saturday (tomorrow afternoon) if anyone fancied it. Don`t expect Wimbledon standard though - I haven`t played for a while.
PM me if interested and I will see if there is still a court free.
