City/Town: Zürich
Event Type: Dinner
Meeting Point: Suan Long, Langstrasse 11, 8004. Zürich

Well as the bunkum, baloney and eventual blatant bill-rigging of the Brazilian experience drifts gently out of sight - we can look back and say that despite the absence of the advertised `Brazilian dancers` (hell, that`s the only reason I went!) . . the food was excellent and we had another large and very friendly group of EFers.
Marching forward then into the realm of the big C and that means for us . . . . .CHINESE.
Therefore, I have booked a table for 16 people, at the SUAN LONG chinese restaurant which is tucked away in a quiet corner of Zürich . . . . Langstrasse, 11.
Looking through previous EF posts and also on-line reviews regarding Chinese restaurants in Zürich, it`s obvious that there are very mixed opinions regarding quality, authenticity . . so I`m sure that there will be some of you crying `Wah! . . should have booked xyz` . . . however, there were enough GOOD reviews about this place to warrant a booking . . . so there
The table is booked for 20:00 . . . that`s 8pm for those of you easily confused.
For details, see the link below:
http://suan-long.ch/suanlong/anfahrt/
Looking forward to seeing you there . . .cheers . . . Basher.

So I need to look out for a devil in a bright green shirt? shouldn't be too hard to find.
Actually, there'll be a few devils there but Prof. T will be the most noticeable amongst us.

Check out Prof's profile piccie for a clue regarding the horns.

Re: The A-Z of dining in Zürich

The final update on this event is:
I went in to the restaurant again last night, to increase the booking for the 3rd time (actually every time they see me now, they have a look of panic, thinking I`m coming in to cancel) - I made the booking for 30 people and they will seat us on either 2 or 3 large tables . . . sorry, I meant `at` rather than `on` . . . that comes later . . ahem.
Also, I mentiond that we would all like to pay separately rather than one large bill.
They said it is no problem - WE ONLY HAVE TO STATE, WHEN WE ORDER, THAT WE WISH THE BILLS TO BE SEPARATE. They will then keep a note of everything . . . . nice people .
Und so . . . if you are meeting for the pre-drinks . . see you there. Otherwise, I will be at the restaurant around 19:45 (the booking is for 20:00) - we will be at the back of the restaurant and the booking is under the name of STEVE.
Alles klar? If not, send me a PM up to 16:00.
Cheers,
Basher

Looking forward to tonight. Mainly as someone else has organised it.

Re: The A-Z of dining in Zürich

It was a fantastic evening from start to finish (Some of us finished very early this AM. Hehe! ).

Thanks Basher for arranging this dinner and to everyone who came. It was great seeing those of you I've met before again and to meeting many more new people. The turnout, food, company, service and atmosphere was excellent.

Looking very much forward to "D". Bring it on.

Re: The A-Z of dining in Zürich

Many thanks to those of you who attended the meal last night. I am still amazed how many really good new people I am meeting at these events - some of you newcomers to the forum and some of you already `legends` .
There was an excellent chemistry last night and it was obvious from the noise, that everyone was mixing well.
The owner of the restaurant did say thanks to us as we were leaving and would welcome us back anytime.
The service was excellent and I did tell him that.
As for those of you who, for whatever reason, did NOT turn up - well we were fortunate that the owner, despite the restaurant being very busy last night, was okay with me having to tell him that 9 people were obviously not coming.
I know that there may well be good reasons as to why you did not show - but the very least I would expect is some sort of message AFTER the event, with a short apology . . . . but then, thats how I would do it.
That said, there was plenty of discussion regarding D in April . . . . and I am still mulling over that one . . . watch this space.

Re: The A-Z of dining in Zürich

Thanks for squeezing me in. I really loved the mix of people and of course the food was good also.

I found it pretty off that people did not have the decency to say they couldn't make it after all the effort basher went to organize extra places. Next time a name and shame I think. I expect some form of apology to basher at least.

Thanks again and a wonderful evening and I can't wait to see how D turns out! All the best cat ....

Ehm, wonder who those people were...?

I had a fantastic time all around - apero, dinner (Basher you're the best!), Volkshouse, and then...REGGAE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to hear the birds sing on my way home this morning

I am with Basher and Cata1yst on the "no shows": people!!!!! S*** happens, but if you can't make it, be decent enough to tell who organized the event, who was kind enough to put his time and efforts into it!

Re: The A-Z of dining in Zürich

Thanks, Basher, for organising a great night. It was very nice to meet a different sort of EF crowd. Very refreshing. I better leave it at that lest I rouse the ire of the OTHER crowd. Of course, there were a couple of familiar faces too who've made the EF events great.

As a veteran organiser myself, I was not surprised, but still annoyed to find that many people did not have the decency, even if last minute, to indicate they couldn't make it after all. Especially so after all the last-minute additions. In this case it cost Basher et al no money, but it can, as I know from experience, and it also means that Basher doen't have to waste his time waiting. Further, the restaurant doesn't lose money from unused tables. The best policy is to only sign up if you can 110% make it; otherwise give notice the evening before if something URGENT comes up.

Looking forward to DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

Great evening: good food and good company! The club was awesome although the DJs accent was clearly fake!
