So what is Hashing? The Hash House Harriers is a running/drinking/walking/social club which was started by bored expatriates in Kuala Lumpuer, Malaysia in 1938. Hashing is based on the game of "Hare and Hounds"; a Hash is a non-competitive cross-country run/walk set by one or more runners called hares. The hares run out in advance of the other runners (the pack of hounds), and set a course marked by white flour, toilet paper, and/or chalk marks. The Hash House Harriers are an International Group founded in 1938 with over 70,000 active worldwide members. We are a social running (we have a lot of walkers as well!) group that focuses on on the social element rather than just running. We meet once a month around Basel, every second Saturday in the month. Our aim is to bring together local Swiss people and expats who want to socialize and have a bit of exercise at the same time. It's a great forum to meet new friends and potentially travel internationally as we have a large number of International Events. Members come in all shapes & sizes, races, ages and fitness levels. We cater for young and old, fast or slow, fit or 'not-so-fit'! The main prerequisites are a sense of humor, willingness to meet new people,open-mindedness, tolerance and a general sense of fun. We are mainly English-speaking but most of us can speak (some) German..Most of our Swiss members are fluent in about 4 languages! More information can be found on our main site www.basel.harrier.eu.org/ Everyone is welcome RSVP'd No: 1 - Jackie2010
