Meeting Point: TBC

UPDATE: EVENT OFFICIALLY CANCELLED. SORRY!

As promised, am having another go at organising another dog walk - reasonable weather willing.

I was thinking of the allemend behind Sihlcity as its much more central for many people, and the dogs can go bonkers running around. Please can someone suggest a meeting point that is convenient for drivers and people coming by public transport alike?

Hopefully, through the walks, everyone will be able to find suitable matches and swaps from the network, and extend your canine (and human!) contacts. Alternatively, if you just feel like exploring new trails and exercising your dog, come along too!

Please indicate in your RSVP your dog(s)'s age, gender and breed.

Of course the usual common sense stuff of dog walking applies: do not bring your bitch if she is in season/about to go into season etc
RSVP'd Yes: 11 (5 members and 6 guests)
  • summerrain + 1 guest - With Oskar, my 2 year old Norwich.
  • J.L-P + 2 guests - Miss Bella almost 5 and Miss Lulu 3.5. Short hair Chihuahua's.
  • MrsFraser + 1 guest - Will join with Fraser a 2 yrs old AST
  • JLF + 1 guest - My bf counts as an animal--no?! ;-)
  • englishtim + 1 guest - With Dizzy, my 17 month old JRT
RSVP'd Maybe: 9 (4 members and 5 guests)
  • maybelstar + 1 guest - With Striker, my 9 month old Parson
  • Xtyna - +2 guests - my hubby and Buddy.
  • MariaMARIA + 1 guest - Jeoui, 1.5 year old medium poodle.
  • caninsui + 3 guests - might just bring one of the dogs (Blizzard - 12 yr old American eskimo) out or if hubby can join as well we can bring them both and he can chase after the one that likes to explore :) (Tundra - 7 year old Samoyed)
RSVP'd No: 3
  • ShazzaMcGowan - Move to Zurich 1 April so would be very keen to meet another time. I have a 6 year old Cairn Terrier.
  • Femme T - Our Jack Russell is about to go into season, so unfortunately we'll have to stay away this time. Will also be keen to meet in the future!
  • Lakeside - Sorry, cannot make Sundays. Maybe I could join next time you have a walk on a Saturday.
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

Re: Pet Sitting Network Dog Walk

any idea if this is a closed in/fenced space? would love to come, but one of mine has a tendency to like to see what's all around the perimeter, and if there isn't one, well, we may never find her!

I am assuming that you are talking about dog parks popular in the US? No, there arent anything like that (closed in, fenced space) in Zürich as far as I know. You can get around the problem with a schlepline aka a long long line which can be bought in Qualipet. Dog can still run around with a long line behind him/her - sorted

Can non-dog owners (in Switzerland at least) who love dogs and want to explore a different side of the city come too?

of course! It is open to owners of cats, rabbits, horses, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats and even snakes!

Just bring them all along and release! It'll be awesome.

Re: Pet Sitting Network Dog Walk

According to accuweather, it looks like its going to piss down.
http://www.accuweather.com/en-us/ch/.../details6.aspx

I personally dont mind the rain but my dog hates it and has to be dragged out of shelter whenever its raining, so it kind of defeats the point of a dog walk.

Will keep an eye on it and post a final update about the weather on Friday. Look out for it!

If you don't like that weather, try this weather:

See you Sunday (weather permitting)

Re: Pet Sitting Network Dog Walk

An update as promised: I am getting conflicting weather reports (one site says rainy, one site says cloudy... gaaaaah!) so I've decided that its best to cancel. Sorry, but I hate being held hostage by the weather.

For those of you who are still up for it, and dont mind last minute plans, please PM me your mobile number and I will text you Sunday morning if the weather's good.

PM on its way, but if we do go, where is the meeting point?

Re: Pet Sitting Network Dog Walk

I'll be walking Team Chewwy anyway Sunday if anyone would like to join the silliness, I live close to the Dolder. The girls are currently doing 4-5 km a day with 1km of 18% uphill.

Actually, we do this every day. Pm me if you want to do walkies.

Re: Pet Sitting Network Dog Walk

I walk with my two pups everyday in the Stäfa area on beautiful trails. Plus, we love the train, so a short trip to meet up with other pups for a walk would be great! Please let me know if another walk is scheduled, and I will keep checking as well.
Thanks,
Karen, Emily and Murphy
