| | Re: Flohmarkt (Flea market) Basel | Quote: | | | | | Since its confirmed that its on ( thank you Mirfield ) it would be a great way of meeting all of you for once outside of a Pub
None the less no one says we can't stop at one on our way up or down
Just hope one of us speaks a bit of German, just in case someone wants to buy something | | | | | I'm in (hopefully)
My German is passable so I am happy to help with haggling if need be.
I've picked up some bargains in the past and like Adrian said I have also experienced the "WTF! 200CHf for that???".
The weather is looking good and I can concur that the wurstweggen are delicious.....yummy yummy yummy. If you can't find me, look for the person hanging around the food van devouring wurstweggen at a rate that would alarm most people
I'll meet you at Petersplatz if that's ok as it seems daft to backtrack to SBB when the fleamarket is almost on my doorstep.
I'll be here: http://map.search.ch/basel/petersplatz
The paths go around the edge of the park and then diagonally into the middle. I'll wait in the middle near the yellow food van (although that is not the food van with the lush food). If I can't make it for any reason (ie mini mimi's dad is late) then I will send mirfield to rally the troops.
Thanks for organising Joey | This user would like to thank mimi1981 for this useful post:

Oh and to get there from the SBB, jump on tram 14 direction dreirosenbrücke and get off at Burgfelderplatz.
Walk straight down Missionstrasse until the very end. Cross the roads at the traffic lights towards the botanical gardens. Go past the botanical gardens (keeping them on your left hand side and bear to the left until you hit the road called Petersplatz. At the end of the road turn right and you will see the market (in fact depending how busy it is, you may hit the market before turning right).

I could maybe be up for it - I need a cheap table to stick out on my terrace and some chairs to go with a table we got 2nd (or possibly 3rd, 4th or 5th) hand from my brother-in-law.
Depends on how motivated I am today (need a lil more sleep and then stuff to do!) as I'm hoping to make some keylime tarts for tomorrow's bbq. IF I'm motivated enough to do them today I'll be okay for out tomorrow, otherwise, it is kitchen time for me tomorrow morning as they'll need to chill. | This user would like to thank Peg A for this useful post:

I couldn't make it clearer for you. I have a feeling you're one of those that would get lost inside a paper bag
Text me when you know your arrival time and I'll do my best to have either me or mirfield at the station to meet you. How's that?

Ok Ok.. why not meet at 11.30 then.
Gives us time enough to find our way, visit the flea market and attend the bbq..

Sounds great! If it's not too much hassle, can I meet you on Petersplatz (I can hang around the middle bit by the wagon as Mimi suggested earlier), for about 1145?

I think i might join as well. Of course that depends how i feel tomorrow morning. I live right by SBB so i can meet Joey82 and whomever else is there and should be able to guide you to petersplatz. I have not been to the market but i have been to petersplatz before. Although i am fairly hopeless with directions, this one seems quite easy.
Just curious, i know i can find out for myself tomorrow, but what types of things are sold here? At any other flea market i have been to (which is less than a handful) it is usually horrible old smelly stuff.
