Hey all!
As the weather is getting nice, and the flowers are coming out, thought I'd organise a little trip to Le Bois de Petit Château in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
I went in the middle of winter before, when it was quite cold and I didn't stay for too long, so I think this time will be a lot more pleasurable!

It's a free entrance, in beautiful surroundings, with lots of amazing rescued animals, reptiles and birds to see.
I thought afterwards, we could go for a coffee in a nice café.

All ages welcome!

  • Metallising - I'm in. Nice place to visit. There's a Lynx, what a beautiful cat!
  • Kamarate + 1 guest - I'll be there with my "better" half - see you then!
  • Sofie_vw + 1 guest - See you on Saturday!
RSVP'd No: 2
  • Belgianmum - Shame we'll be away for the weekend or we'd have come along. There were 2 bears a couple of weeks ago when we were there.
  • SwissPete - Sorry, I am a little too far. I would like to visit that place. I was born not far from there and understand from my parents that I once, as a very young child, strayed from home and was found in Le Bois...
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

I'm so happy for you being back together! I was meaning to ask you!

So, a day at the zoo... and maybe
Karaoke in the evening...! What a day!

Hope more can come!

Sorry we won't be able to make it this time as we'll be away that this weekend.
It's a great place to visit. Shame they haven't got a cafe though.

To Odile - the bears seemed to have a pretty decent sized enclosure so maybe it's changed since you were last there. The worst place iI saw for bears was Parc de la tete d'or in Lyon but they did eventually build them a fabulous new enclosure.

To Kamarate - I would have thought you were way too busy indoors at the moment making up for the pat 4 months

Haha cheeky! Not entirely untrue, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing... nice to get out and about, too.

Hi Belgianmum - there was a polar bear there some years back that just paced up and down, up and down, its small enclosure without any stimulation whatsoever- it was very sad. There used to be wolves too, and again the enclosure was far too small. Fortunately they are now at Juraparc near Vallorbe, in a huge natural enclosure with limestone cliffs, etc- a great place to see them, as well as brown bears with 2 cubs from last year.

Perhpaps meet there one Wednesday or week-end - it's good a good restaurant and café.

Aye would be nice to have a little café there, but sure we'll find somewhere nice downtown, will have a look for somewhere tomorrow!

There weren't any bears there last time I went, I usually don't bother going to any zoo type places and I end up leaving quite saddened, but it wasn't like that here.

Anyway, as for not coming.... hope you can both make it along another time, and enjoy your weekends away!

Have a lovely time - off to the Alps tomorrow. Taking skis, but not sure if there will be enough snow! There is a spa nearby, so will enjoy that possibly.
Say hello to the otters for me - they are my favourite there.

My boy loves them too. Hopefully they'll be out tomorrow, it was too cold for them last time we were there.

The bears are up the hill on the corner (just after the mountain goat thingies). There are 2 of them, one is brown and the other is very light beige (but it's not a polar bear even though my son thought it was, as the head is the wrong shape). They habe a big tree to climb on and a pond to swim in and seemed quite happy when we were there.
The fox on the other hand was going round in circles on a very well trodden path.
There may be baby goats as there were some very fat ones a couple of weeks ago. The new donkeys were very cute.
