City/Town: Zurich
Event Type: Sports
Meeting Point: Frankental tram stop (end of line 13)

Guys,

It seems the time may have arrived to wave goodbye to ski season and dust off the road bikes.

Following recent chatter on the Forum it seems there may be some interest in a ride on Sunday afternoon - I suggest meeting at 14.00 at Frankental tram stop (end of line 13) for anyone who is keen. The plan from there would be to head over to Regensdorf and then Regensburg before wandering along the back roads to Baden
. Depending on the group mood we could then either end the rides with a beer/coffee in Baden and catch the train back or do a loop back to Zurich. Depending on what options we take I would guess the ride as being 50-70km and the pace won't be above 25kmph and will probably be slower.

This is intended to be a social early season ride and there will probably be a broad range of abilities although please note that this ride is intended for road/racing bikes (i.e. curved handlebars and narrow tyres) and so unless you are very fit you
may struggle to keep up on any other kind of bike. It will be expected that we all ride together and that the stronger riders respect the "group" pace. There are plenty of bail-out options to either cut the route short or head for a train station if anyone doesn't fancy doing the whole route.

All riders should also be familiar with general group cycling safety guidelines and must wear a helmet. This is not a supervised ride and everyone will be participating at their own risk.

Roll on the weekend.

Re: Road/Racing bike ride

hey guys! Just wanted to say thanks for organizing such a fun event - featuring drama, hills, cobbles, and hairy cows. Brilliant.

It was one of the best days i've had in ages, lovely to meet you all.

Best of luck in flanders and looking forward to the next one

K

Re: Road/Racing bike ride

Hi,

Attached is a map of yesterdays 45km ride to the pub (although the real question is how many km's Steve did trying to find his way back !!!)

Have a good week all and hopefully we can do it again soon (ie once I can sit on a bike again post-Flanders cobbles !!)

Cheers

Stu
