Mornin' all,
No problem for Mike to come up to Zurich area to meet you - it is only a bit more than an hour. He won't moan about his sore a**e - at least not to you lot!
Hope you have a good day

| | Re: Motorcycle rides out 2011 No 2 | Quote: | | | | | Still looking at routes, as Jorn has suggested something in the Jura area, or possibly a route going south, as Mike wants to come with us, and he's coming up from Brienzwiler. So route not fully locked in yet. Any other ideas always welcomed.
Bob, you have anything down your way heading south ??
Just let me know what you all think.
Chris | | | | | Tricky, we're at opposite ends of the line with you Zurchers in the middle .
On the motorrradland site the "Passe Classic" could suit meeting at Luzern? Choices of routes from the loops through the passes (warning, still a bit chilly up there) ?

Well, if it's not a problem for Mike, then we have 2 options on the table, the route from RPF, or the Jura option.
Preferences boys ??

Passes? Gotthard, Furka, Oberalp, Grimsel, Susten ... are still closed. See http://www.tcs.ch/main/de/home/verke...e_tunnels.html
On a sunny Sunday in spring Central Switzerland will be pretty crowded with Sunday drivers competing who can create the longest traffic jam - or who can turn the quickest into the path of an approaching motorcycle.
Here a "mild" Jura tour: Bülach Dielsdorf Buchs Würenlos Aarau Ost Schönenwerd Niedergösgen Trimbach Läufelfingen Eptingen Belchenpass Langenbruck Oberer Hauenstein Mümliswil Scheltenpass Delémont Soyhères Laufen Breitenbach Brislach Himmelried Seewen Bretzwil Reigoldswil Oberdorf Bennwil Diegten Känerkinden Rünenberg Zeglingen Oltingen Anwil Rothenfluh Wittnau Frick Bötzberg Brugg Siggenthal Endingen Schöfflisdorf Steinmaur Höri Bülach
The Jura region is a great place for riding. However it's 50-100 km to and fro ZH just to get there.

Understand that Jura is a ways off, but it sounds interesting, and we didn't go that way last year.
Maybe we meet in Bulach (Tamoil) and decide once there :-)
Meeting time 10:00, is that okay for everyone??

10 am if good for me, thought Passwang that we did last year was over that neck of the woods?
Swissbob, if you want to me up then let me know as I will be setting off from around the Maur area.

10 am at Tamoil is ok for me, if I make it.
Paolo you're right, Passwang is in the region. However, we'll be doing the Schelten which was closed when we were there last year. We may shortly stop at Trimbach, the national bike meeting venue. http://www.toefftreff-hauenstein.ch/
If it's dry tomorrow I'm going on a test run. I did this Jura trip more than 10 years ago.

10 is ok with me. I'll be 2 up by the way - daughter Lucy is coming along.
@Perkyp - I'll probably hack down the A1 to Winterthur and then Pfungen and Embrach. Does that work?
What road is the Tamoil on?

What road is the Tamoil on? | | | | | Ah, a little bit too north for me as I will be going thru Dubendorf and then past Kloten up the motorway but as for finding the Tamoil, easy, as I see it you will be coming on the 7 from Pfungen which then joins the 4 @ a large roundabout north of Bulach, go up the 4 towards Eglisau for about mile or so and the petrol station will be on your right hand side.
See you there | This user would like to thank perkyp for this useful post: | |

For anyone that wants it, here is the itinery file with the route around the Jura region for TOMtom devices.
download the attatched file, rename it with a itn extension, as I had to rename it to txt to allow me to upload.
Then just copy it into the itn directory on your tomtom, and then you can load the itinery.
Look forward to seeing everyone sunday morning.
Regards Chris.

Being a bit of an old fashioned map nerd I thought that I would plot this route out on the old folded sheet- sheesh, are you sure we won't need camp beds?
Has RPF returned from his test run or is he still out there?
Not complaining mind but I reckon some of you gas guzzlers may need a fuel bowser following us
Bring it on!!!

Yep, I did notice it's over 300km bulach to bulach, but there is the possibility to cut it down by a margin if needed and not go all the way up to St Blasen, would probably cut 60km off. So long as we have the fuel stops, I'm raring to go. Ask me how I feel once we get back, see if I'm still speaking to everyone :-)

Paolo, I'm back since 4 pm, left around 10 am. It's 275 km Tamoil-Tamoil.
I used a 1:100'000 survey map and still didn't find all the tiny backroads (too narrow for K1600s anyway).
I'll publish a slightly modified tour guide and two or three pictures in half an hour or so.
