City/Town: Zurich
Event Type: Sports
Meeting Point: Saalsporthalle, Giesshübelstrasse 41, 80

There is considerable interest building again in gaelic football (ladies & mens) in zurich.
To get the ball rolling, lets meet for a warm-up and a kick-around on 6:30pm Tuesday 5th April at Saalsporthalle.
(#13 tram, direction Albisguetli, Sihlcity Sud Tramstop - it is about a 15 minute tram-ride from the HB)
There is parking on the 2 streets Moosgutstrasse and Giesshübelstrasse.

A possible first step beyond kick-arounds would be to organise a friendly at Saalsporthalle against our near neighbours - the 'Bears' from San Gallen.

There are changing rooms, lockers and showers.

If you know in advance that you can make it (or intend to participate in future but cannot come on Tuesday(s),
or if you've any other questions/suggestions/complaints/ideas about football in Zurich, please let me know.
Please pass this on to anyone whom you think might be interested.

All are welcome from beginners to experienced players, guys & girls are welcome.

If you have ever played, soccer, rugby, handball, basketball or even American football then you will pick the game up very quickly.

Edit - We have changed to Thursday evenings for football training

Re: Zurich Gaelic Football

Would participants need to pay for this event or is it a free trial game?

Re: Zurich Gaelic Football

We had about 14 out on Tuesday night for an enjoyable kick around.
We will continue to meet on Tuesday night's but at the slightly later time of 19.00.
We will be using the small soccer pitch at the far end of Saalsporthalle, ie. furthest away from SihlCity shopping centre, the dressing rooms are attached to the Grasshoppers club indoor arena, which is closer to the tram stop.
If you have any other questions leave a reply, send me a pm or check out the website

Re: Zurich Gaelic Football

After the end of a hard-fought game last Sunday the final score was
Zurich Inneoin 4 - 18
St Gallen Bears 4 - 13
A full match report including pictures will be available soon on http://www.hurling.ch/News.html
or http://www.stgallengaa.com/

It was a very enjoyable game with a lot of scoring and it certainly bodes well for the future of both clubs. I`m sure the re-match will be eagerly anticipated by both clubs, it would be great to play in St. Gallen the next day...

We had a large variety of nationalities playing, including English, Irish, Swiss, Scottish, Dutch & Albanian/French, and some of the stand out displays came from the novices, so don`t let lack of experience hold you back from coming along to training some evening and giving it a try.

We would also actively encourage any girls/ladies/women to join up as-well as we would love to to replicate the Zurich v St Gallen mens game with a ladies version.

For Zurich, football training resumes this Thursday 26th May at 7pm in Sallsporthalle, and the clubs hurlers & camogistas will travel to Budapest for the second round of the European Hurling & Camoige Championship

Re: Zurich Gaelic Football

Sunday was my very first time at a Gaelic football match, it was really enjoyable to watch even when you have no clue about the rules of the game .
