City/Town: Basel
Event Type: Dinner
Meeting Point: Mandir, Spalenvorstadt 9, 4051 Basel

Curry Time anyone?

Some of us Baslers fancy our monthly curry restaurant fix. So for the May 2011 curry fix, may I propose an old favourite:

Tuesday May 10th
at 19:30 at the Mandir Restaurant just a little along the road from the centre of Basel

Easy to Walk/Cycle to or get the tram no. 3 or bus no. 30

Mandir (http://www.mandirbasel.com/English/Home.aspx)
Spalenvorstadt 9
4051 Basel
Tel.: +41 (0)61 261 99 93
info@mandirbasel.com
info@mandir.ch

The limit for this month is 25 so, please only sign up as yes if you plan to come definitely. No shows will be noted down.

If you are not sure or only wish to join for a drink later in the evening please RSVP as “maybe”.

All are welcome, newcomers or "old hands" - just post below or PM me for more info or if you have any questions.

See you soon,

Sagar

RSVP'd Yes: 8 (7 members and 1 guests) RSVP'd Maybe: 4 (4 members and No guests) RSVP'd No: 6
  • Castro - Thanks for organising Sagar D, but unfortunately we cannot make this one ;-(
  • Begga - Oops... clashes with Eurovision semi finals 1. Go go Iceland!
  • HelenT
  • BruceFan - out of town
  • Kurbee - Can't make this one, but definitely would like to get to the next one. We have to put our son to bed so may have to rotate as a husband and wife!
  • Bexie - just moved.....
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

The Mandir organised a TV (the smallest TV in the world) for the Germany-Spain World Cup Semi-Final last year. Maybe they'd do the same for the ESC semis.
Last year we had the curry at Indian Tandoori Palace during the Germany-Spain game as I do remember the smallest TV in the world Basel Curry Night

Oh yeah. Still. Tandoori Palace is only just up the road. Maybe Begga can pop in every now and then.

I have never seen eurovision competition so would be fun to see and then decide who is right, adrian or begga
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first night at Eurovision, you have to vote.

Since the Eurovision contest has suddenly assumed national importance, in the interest of maintaining unity on the EF, I will check with the Mandir proprietors today if they have a TV and are willing to display inane songs and dances on it that evening

Re: Basel Curry - May 2011

I looked at the menu, lots of yummy looking stuff... I think I've managed to pique the interest of my hubby but he asks if everything is very hot or if there are some (delicious, of course) mild-to-medium offerings?

Just show him the RSVP list. Pretty hot, I'd say

They cook to order. Most of the food isn't very hot, but even if the description of a hot dish excites you, you can ask for it to be made less hot (and vice verca).

Ah good times Although I'm not sure my sister would agree as I deserted her and my curry to hog the tv all night

As long as people don't have to wear t-shirts in support of a country for Eurovison you should be ok.......I remember there was a really strange arsonist in a German football top at that curry night

Re: Basel Curry - May 2011

I called up the restaurant and confirmed reservation for 10 people on 10th May at 19.30.

If the number changes over the next few days, I'll update them on Monday.

P.s. there is no TV in the place. So no images of song and dance that night for us. Begga, what time does Iceland's entry come in? If it is late, then you can still have dinner and hop back to your place for the song and dance affair.

Re: Basel Curry - May 2011

I know it'll annoy Begga but I'm glad there's no TV. If I wanted to eat a curry and just watch TV I could do that at home and save loads of money.

No worries, I'll just join the next curry.
Doesn't really work to see just your song, I know the song already. Either you watch the whole crap - or you don't (and maybe just the points / who gets to the finals).

Re: Basel Curry - May 2011

Since we are close to Tuesday, I request the "Maybe's" to consider whether they will be definitely attending the curry. I will wait till Sunday evening and then inform Mandir about the number of "Yes's".

Enjoy your weekend.

So far I have confirmed reservations for 10 persons for tomorrow. If any of the "Maybes" change their status by today 6 pm to "Yes", I will reconfirm the new number.
