That's a really neat idea.
Not only do you get to see Switzerland but you also get to meet EFers based in all the parts you'll visit as well.
Looking forward to reading all about it. | This user would like to thank ximix for this useful post: | |

No interest as of yet! To be honest, I haven't put an itinerary together - will do it tomorrow I guess. That "being spontaneous" lark is actually rather stressful. I'll write on here tomorrow with a list of places I want to visit and maybe someone can tell me when they're free!

I am in Lausanne from evening of 18th until morning of 22nd.
I am looking at visiting Neuchatel area and along Lake Geneva, probably to Morges tulip festival and Vevey. These would be Tuesday & Wednesday, possibly including an EF meet up in Lausanne some time. No fixed plan yet for which place on each day.
On Thursday I will be in Geneva and hoping to meet up with some EF members there.
I don't know thse areas but if you want some company and any of this coincides with your itinerary, I would be happy to join you.
On Good Friday I am taking the Golden Panorama train from Montreux, eventually to end up in St Gallen for 12 days.

i am off too and have a pretty free day on wednesday, i'd be open to venture around, or if y'all are coming here (i know deep purple will be in the area, so it may be a chance to visit lausanne ) i'd be happy to meet up and show you around and explore a bit too.
it's a good idea to have this kind of open event, i like it! |

So it looks like Wednesday is a good day to visit Lausanne. Would you be interested in going to Montreux on the same day? I'm trying to economise a bit on time and money, and given the proximity of Montreux to Lausanne, it makes sense...

Wednesday is great for me around Lausanne. With my user name, did you think I would avoid Montreux. I have stayed there before and it is a great place to visit.
Vevey is also very nice.
I had also thought of the tulip festival in Morges.
I have a Swiss Pass so have free access to the trains, boats and trams/buses.
That means that I will go to the Neuchatel area on Tuesday.

I still don't know what my plan for Tuesday is - is there somewhere in particular you'd like to see? I have a rehearsal on Tuesday evening, so I have to be back at some point anyway (was thinking about staying overnight with some friends on Monday). Let me know!

ok. wednesday it is- i may have my son with me, we'll have to see. let me know what y'all are interested in seeing here, we can do a tour- the old town, ouchy, some cafe stuff, as you wish. montreux is a possibility, but i'm not sure you'll see much of both if you squeeze them into one day...i know them both quite well as i live in lausanne and work in montreux so it works for me. will send a pm closer to the date with my contact info...hope the weather is nice. my suggestions for lausanne, depending on what you like, ouchy/vidy- the lakeside is pretty and the walk around vidy by the lake is very nice. if you are into art, there is l'art brut- very cool and interesting museum. the old town is small but very nice and there is also the olympic museum among others.

Hi There!
This seems very interesting I spend a lot of time down that part and love taking a train trip around there. Unfortunately Wednesday would be a no go for me but I was thinking of asking my Sister-in-Law if she has a free couple of days nest week and fancied a visit too, she is in the same line of work as you owning a translation business, in her case German, Dutch amongst others.. I wonder if you already know [her]...

Reason: was this a real name or a Forum Name? If User name I'll put it back in. Google finds everything, be careful with info!

I still have to check some things, but it looks like:
Mon: Zurich

Weds: Lausanne/Montreux
Thurs: Jura?
Fri: Bern?
If anyone is free in those places on those days and wants to have a wander round, either write on here or PM me. Hope to meet some of you next week!

I may not be able to stay in Zurich in Monday, so I might go to Jura on Tuesday instead (I have to stay relateively near Neuch as I have the rehearsal). Could do Geneva on Thursday... I normally have these things planned weeks if not months in advance!

Ok, I have no idea where I'm going tomorrow, but looks like Wednesday Lausanne and Thursday Geneva! I'll arrive early on both days (well, sort of early anyway), but if other people aren't available until later on in the day, that's cool. If you'll be around on those two days and want to meet up, send me a PM and we can swap numbers. Hopefully meet some of you soon!

I'll be staying Neuch on Tuesday if anyone is free and wants to visit. Again, just send a PM to set things up. I'm going to really enjoy this week I think. |
