Hello all!

As the final preparation for the first hurling / camogie tournament of the European Championship season, Zürich Inneoin GAA Club will be holding two challenge matches (one for Camogie, one for Hurling) on Sunday 1st May at Saalsporthalle.

This is the last full training session for the club before we travel to The Hague on 7th May, so the matches will be played under conditions that are as close to "true" tournament play as possible.

Camogie will throw in at 11am (4 quarters of 10 minutes with 5 min breaks) (likely to be ~ 5-a-side)

Hurling will aim to throw in at 12.00 (4 quarters of 15 min with 5 min breaks) (likely to be ~ 11-a-side)

Any spectators, or those who might want to join the club, are more than welcome to come down and have a look, but please bear in mind that this is a training session so there won't be any seating, refreshments etc - if you want drinks, snacks, deckchairs, blankets or suncream then I'm afraid you'll have to bring your own.

After the matches, we'll be heading in to town (most likely to club sponsor Paddy Reilly's) for some "post match recovery".

How to get there

Saalsporthalle is directly opposite Sihlcity in Zürich. The easiest way to get there is by Tram (5 or 13 to "Saalsporthalle") or by Train (S4 from HB platform 1 to "Saalsporthalle")

How to find me

For anyone who hasn't met me, I'll be the ginger one with glasses. I'll be arriving at the pitch about 10.30 to help set up the posts etc. but after that I'll be involved in umpiring the Camogie match, and playing in the Hurling match, so sadly if you come along during the games I'll not have much time to chat.

If anyone wants more detailed info or directions, or any players who fancy getting involved on Sunday (?), please drop me a PM and I'll do my best to help.

Hope to see some of you there!

Terry

Looks like a few guys will be coming over from St Gallen for this as well so there should be a good turnout of teams and a good standard for spectators to enjoy.

Weather report suggests about 20 degrees, some sunshine with "scattered showers", more or less ideal!

Are the matches played indoors on Sunday?
Would have been great for photos if they are played outdoors like last year.

Re: Camogie and Hurling challenge matches

Hi,

We were outdoors yesterday, excellent training for both teams and we're now more than ready for The Hague.

We're hoping to arrange similar challenge matches before the tournaments in Budapest, Zürich and Brussels, so I'll post those here too.

Thanks

Terry
