Great idea! Were you thinking more night or day time?
If day and it's nice... by the lakeside? BBQ and BYOB?

I didn't have anything specific in mind. As I say, I'll take suggestions! BBQ could indeed be an option... Mmmm... BBQ...

On top of that, she refuses to speak english to me as she is sure that I'll make fun of her accent (though she will happily talk to anyone else in english if she needs to, double standards or what )
Might suggest a nice trip to Neuchatel where I (shock horror) run into some EF members |

Millso there are loads of us who speak pretty good French too so don't let your girlfriend be put off. We don't bite honest.

I second what Belgianmum said. I'll speak to her in French if that makes her more comfortable. |

Apologies for writing an essay in the response bit above. I still clearly have no idea on how this forum actually works and was therefore cut off mid-response above. Anyway, any ideas of where you will actually be going?

Not yet, am happy to go anywhere (except the Taverne Neuchâteloise... they're a bunch of rude bastards in there). I was kind of hoping some suggestions would be proposed... so far we've only had "BBQ" - and that might not even be allowed!

I suppose it depends whether or not its at night or in the day. I quite regularly go to Cafe du Cerf with friends from work, and I find that quite a friendly place. There are also quite a few other English speaking people who already go there.
Or maybe l'etage? Apologies, I am rubbish at suggestions. And my knowledge is not the best.
If people are looking for food and drinks there is always Salt & Pepper?

I won't be able this time.
I see there is a new member from La Chaux de Fonds! I'm not alone here anymore!

AEventually- That's cool you joined the forum, I remember that in the Cerf.
Agree with Metallising above - nice to see more people from La Chaux-de-Fonds... we definately should do something there again one time!
BBQs are allowed - it's by a lake!

It looks like a picnic/BBQ by the lake is a popular choice! How about in St. Blaise?

Ok, so I propose we meet at 1pm at the picnic area in St Blaise right near the St Blaise lac train station (on the bus it's the train station stop, just before St Blaise). We can then discuss what we'd like to do in the evening. If anyone doesn't know how to get there, PM me and maybe we can arrange to meet in town and go together. For anyone who isn't free during the day but would like to meet up in the evening, PM me so I can contact you on the day. Hope to see you soon!

No - boo! Forecast for rain! Fingers crossed it changes, but if it does rain, maybe we could go to La Trattoria du Soleil (near Place des Halles) as it's relatively reasonably priced and the portions are so massive you don't need a starter or anything (for those on a budget).

Weather looks like it'll be rainy and cold on Saturday
I don't think I'll be coming in that case as my little one's not going to be quiet and content sitting in her pushchair in a cafe with no room to explore....!
Have a great time all, hope to see you another time! xx
