Saturday evening, 10 pm in the town center is a "Crackling Fire"

St. John's Day, at the Castle of Gruyères 35 km from Fribourg by the motorway A12 (exit Bulle). Parking at the entry of the town, 500 meters from the castle.

Gruyères stands in the midst of the Fribourg green pre-Alpine foothills. The castle, one of the most prestigious in Switzerland, towers majestically above the medieval town. The tour of the castle offers a walk through eight centuries of architecture, history and culture.

Medieval Festival with the Company of Saynt George Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th of June 2011.

Military activities such as drilling, gun, bow and crossbow shooting form an integral part of the festival. Many craftsmen and merchants are in the background. On the market there are jewelry and semi precious items, wood products, paintings and fabrics offered, along with all sorts everyday utensils. Particularly impressive is the display of the work of a physician and a pharmacist with an insight into the knowledge and the therapeutic possibilities of medicine available in the late Middle Ages.On Saturday evening in the town will be the traditional bonfire at 10 pm, a symbol of the Solstice.

The Company of Saynt George is a living-history association. For almost twenty years we have been bringing to life a small artillery company dating back to the period of Charles the Bold (1467-1477)
