Re: Anyone interested in doing the Zürich Seeüberquerung?

it's on for this Wednesday! Needless to say the weather's much more cooperative this time around. Ticket office opens at 2:30 p.m., first start is 3:30 p.m., but you can show up to swim it until 6:45 p.m.

Water temperature measured at 24.7 degrees Celsius today--should be warm enough even for the frosty among us.

Can anyone tell me how you get back to the start once you have completed the swim? I was hoping to park up and leave my kids at the badi, I should probably go back for them!

Hehe...you would have to make your own way. To be honest, I think the best solution would be to arrange a sitter for your kids who brings them to Tiefenbrunnen around the time you are finishing. There is usually lots to do at the end--food, drink, music--and it's nice staying and socializing, for kids too. Or if they are old enough to be on their own, park them at Tiefenbrunnen Badi instead of at Mythenquai.

Bumping this to remind folks, today's the day! It looks pretty nice out, water temperature around 23-26 °C...

Apparently, there's a nice steaming bowl of risotto waiting for you at the finish in Tiefenbrunnen too!

I'm headed down there in about an hour--hoping to avoid the crowds and get into the water early...

Re: Anyone interested in doing the Zürich Seeüberquerung?

If anyone is thinking of heading over there, they are not accepting anymore swimmers because of an approaching storm. I was hoping to head out around 5, but I guess I hafta wait till next year.

Die Seeüberquerung wurde abgebrochen. Die Kassen sind ab sofort geschlossen. Wir erwarten ein grosses Gewitter und können aus Sicherheitsgründen niemand mehr über den See schwimmen lassen.

Hope you got in, Bartholemew...

I got there at 2.15 and got in. Its a shame for those who didn't due to the weather, I was so built up for it I would have been very disappointed. At what time did they close it?

Better luck next year!

too bad! I managed to see the message before I headed out, so the disappointment wasn't so bad. Next year!

Re: Anyone interested in doing the Zürich Seeüberquerung?

I managed to get my swim in too, was my first time and I also would have been disappointed. But better to break it off midway than risk having swimmers in the lake when its storming.
I ll be there next year again hopefully (4July 2012)
