Re: Val-de-Travers walk 'n' munch

Don't forget you will have to bring your own meat to BBQ and your own drink. I'll bring the BBQ and wood, plates, knifes, forks and spoons and glasses. Please also bring a salad or snacky stuff. If you have a folding chair or 2 and coming by car bring them also. No puds as we could go for an ice-cream, etc, after the walk.

If coming by car, please try and team up to save parking space.

I shall be sending a message on here at about 9am on the day to make a decision re the weather. If the forecast is dire, we can re-schedule to our place a bit further up in the mountains. Covered space for BBQ and plenty of space for all. If some are coming by train we could pick up in Fleurier.

Didn't realise the full message originally posted cannot be seen. 11am ish - down by the river, near the restaurant. Coming from Neuchatel, go through Peseux, follow signs for Pontarlier, Val-de-Travers. Keep straight on when you get to Rochefort village, and about 4 km out of Rochefort, after the woods and the line of trees protected by fencing (the 3rd but one tree being the one that sent me to hospital for a very long time in 1970) turn sharp left down a narrow road, you will eventually pass the station on the right, and down another mile approx and across river. We will go on a recky this week to find best place for bbq. Planned to have BBQ first around 12ish- then the walk around say 1-30/2ish for those who want to- followed by ice-cream or pud at the restau for those who want to. Walk will be about 1 hour/ish.

No official ending time- just when we've had enough, lol.

Re: Val-de-Travers walk 'n' munch

So Odile, where exactly is the meeting point... Champ du Moulin station or down by the river ?

For those coming by train, there's one from Neuchâtel at 10:40, arrives 10:55 at Champ du Moulin. If you have the standard Onde Verte pass for zones 10 and 11, you will be covered to Champ du Moulin and will not need to buy a ticket.

I will bring some kind of salad, enough for several people.

Re: Val-de-Travers walk 'n' munch

We have the date, (Time please?) but I cannot find Champs du Moulin, near Travers town. Could someone indicate where the car park, and or the meeting point is please? I would assume it is a field next to the water mill. http://map.search.ch/travers/rue-du-pont

But there is also a Champ du Moulin hamlet, 14 Km east of Travers, in the Val de Travers, http://map.search.ch/champ-du-moulin

Another thing I am missing is the time of the first meeting and the possible time at the end of walk, for the picnic.

Hmmm it is a grey and boring day- so I had reached my daily limit (not booze- posting) so I've added the info on a post (post 24) above. Can you see it?

I will be.

We might be able to give you both a lift but won't be able to confirm until nearer the time. Will depend on how jetlagged hubby is and if we bring the bigger car.

Re: Val-de-Travers walk 'n' munch

Yes- I saw that today. I think we will make a decision on Saturday morning, when things should be a bit clearer.

If rain is confirmed- would you be prepared to come a bit further- to Fleurier then up t'mountains to our home (bus leaves from next to station 2 mins after train arrival and takes you up here in a few minutes). Then we would have plenty of space inside, a wood burner to keep us warm and a covered area to BBQ. It is the Mi-été just above us that day - so plenty of traditional music, cow bells, etc- so could go up there for a bit of 'peasant culture' and a walk after BBQ and pud up there? What do you think?

That sounds fine, thank you very much for the invitation. Maybe you can send us all a PM with your details, just in case it rains?

I need to be back in town by mid-afternoon, so I might have to drop out if we move further away... fingers crossed that the weather holds !
