Meeting Point: Pot Belly's, Soodring 21

PLEASE READ THIS POST. PLEASE READ THIS POST. UPDATE!!!

Come one, come all...The proper Sunday roast is on. And the pool is free.

The doors will open at 15.00 for us and the buffet will start between 15.30 and 16.00. It will be all-you-can-eat and last until 20.00. The bar will stay open (still with free pool) until around 00.00.

Menu (there will be, at a minimum, the following):
Roast Beef and (UPDATE) Roast Pork
Roast Potatoes
Mashed Potatoes
3 kinds of Veggies
Yorkshire Puddings
Gravy
Dessert: Apple Pie and Cream
Drinks are *not* included

Price: Between 45-60CHF (depending on the number of confirmed attendees). 50CHF deposit per person to me by SEPT 1 to guarantee your spot(s). If we have enough attendees at that time, I can still collect money and take more names until 5 days before the event.

Kids 12 and under: 25CHF---the venue also has a little play area for them

Location:
Pot Belly's
Soodring 21
8134 Adliswil
http://www.potbellys.ch/

It is a short 14 minute ride on the S4 from the Zurich main station (you do need a zone extension). Trains run every 20 minutes off track 1, and Pot Belly's is literally above the Sood-Oberleimbach stop. There is some parking available nearby as well.

Any questions, let me know.

Please read the thread for updates...so far there has been three or four!

There will be (or definitely should be)... That was already discussed (and agreed upon) by myself and the owner. Sorry I didn't put it in writing.

Oh, and about the cookies--it is either this weekend or at the Ploughman's, but not both... Do you have a preference?

Re: All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast (UPDATED!!)

Just handed over the money for everyone and had a chat with the owner. Things are being prepared, the final menu is set, and the chef was rolling out the dough for the apple pies while we were there. He is making so many things from scratch, I am really getting excited now.

When you all arrive on Sunday, I will greet you at the door and give you the name you are under on the "VIP" list. That name is what you will reference to pay for everything for the evening. Also, just as a note--it is "all-you-can-eat" until it is gone. So there is a limited amount of food based on the number of participants. I would have to say, though, judging by their normal portions, I think we will be fine...

Also, I will be handing out comment cards. Since this is the first go, and it is something (that if successful) they would like to do in the future, constructive feedback is really appreciated. I hope you guys will take the time to provide that for them. Thanks again and looking forward to Sunday!

You going to give us a code name? Yuhuuuu This feels like a Mission Impossible take! I will take care that the food message self-destructs properly...

Well there'll be plenty to eat on Sunday, and a larger number of people at the ploughman's, so I'm prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice and suggest you make them for the ploughman's.

Hungry and jealous... Not a great way to start the weekend.

But 'bon appetit' to you all, look forward to hearing about it, and hopefully will organise a day pass so I can attend the next one.

Glad to see you've been able to take my name off the maybes list, by the time I remembered this it was too late. Note to self: RSVP does not subscribe you to an event thread... You've gone to a lot of trouble to organise this, hope you all have a great time

Technically you are too late. And we put a deadline on the RSVPs for a reason...The reason is so that there is enough food for everyone that actually paid when they were supposed to (thus, the food was being prepared for these people). Now, in theory, you are taking food away from them. And I would feel terrible if the people who did what they were supposed to didn't get the food they should because we accommodated more people.

I have also called the owner and will discuss things in detail in an hour or so. We will figure out the number of people we can actually accommodate comfortably with the amount of food we have. Because I had pm requests before yours that I turned down because they were past the deadline, I am not sure this is fair to those others.

Please wait to hear from me for a final decision.

If any of the others (who RSVP'ed under the timing requested) have an opinion on this, I encourage you to voice it. Thanks.

If you're going to an event I think it's best to do it through the event organiser, especially one as big as this.

Otherwise it leads to huge f#&k ups!

Especially if we all got code name assigned at the door gatecrashers will not have a code.. bad enough that when you turn up to one of the EF event, you introduce yourself and then you introduce your alias.. we have to add the Code as well to remember to get past the front door!! (unless I can be 007, then that will be easy)

Re: All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast (UPDATED!!)

As a conclusion to what was posted earlier, we discussed the amount of food we actually have compared to the total number of people we would have if we allowed all the latecomers to join us. We decided that we will not be allowing any late entries because we can't accommodate all of you. Thus, it is only fair to not allow any rather than to allow only some.

I apologize for this. However, I think I was clear, many times actually, about the need to RSVP as requested...and even extended the deadline.

It is difficult to plan events like this, both for the organizer (me) and for the restaurant, and we have tried our best to accommodate everyone as much as possible.

Hopefully there will be a next time...

Hi JLF,

We won't make it this time around - but reading all the mails and all the dumb questions you no doubt have had to field in organising this event, I think you deserve a medal for all your efforts.

I hope it goes well tomorrow and will most certainly keep an eye out for the follow-up event.

Cheers,
Nick

You can just use a ticket machine, the code for Adliswil is 8134 ... or, if you want an extension ticket for 1-2 zones (for use in conjunction with a regular daily/monthly/annual ticket for Zone 10) just enter *002 into the machine.
Be sure to select half-tax (if you have one) and return (if you want to come back on the same ticket more than one hour after buying the ticket).

Looks like it's going to be a great time for all of you, maybe I'll get organised and RSVP for the next one ...
