PLEASE READ THIS POST. PLEASE READ THIS POST. UPDATE!!!

Come one, come all...The proper Sunday roast is on. And the pool is free.

The doors will open at 15.00 for us and the buffet will start between 15.30 and 16.00. It will be all-you-can-eat and last until 20.00. The bar will stay open (still with free pool) until around 00.00.

Menu (there will be, at a minimum, the following):
Roast Beef and (UPDATE) Roast Pork
Roast Potatoes
Mashed Potatoes
3 kinds of Veggies
Yorkshire Puddings
Gravy
Dessert: Apple Pie and Cream
Drinks are *not* included

Price: Between 45-60CHF (depending on the number of confirmed attendees). 50CHF deposit per person to me by SEPT 1 to guarantee your spot(s). If we have enough attendees at that time, I can still collect money and take more names until 5 days before the event.

Kids 12 and under: 25CHF---the venue also has a little play area for them

Location:
Pot Belly's
Soodring 21
8134 Adliswil
http://www.potbellys.ch/

It is a short 14 minute ride on the S4 from the Zurich main station (you do need a zone extension). Trains run every 20 minutes off track 1, and Pot Belly's is literally above the Sood-Oberleimbach stop. There is some parking available nearby as well.

Any questions, let me know.

Re: All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast (UPDATED!!)

No need to apologise, JLF, come on, you were very clear about the rules and if people can't be bothered to stick to them, then this is a simple welcome to the real world to them! Sure, some will have seen it too late but that's life. And if you spared a thought for JLF, dear "what about me?!" people - if you make this a headache for her, the likeliness of her ever organising this again will sink proportionally to the amount of trouble you cause. So just accept you missed out and don't spoil it for everyone else, ok?

To those who managed to get themselves sorted - you guys have a great time, sounds delicious!

Re: All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast (UPDATED!!)

Missed my train in Lugano due to roadworks, grrr

Should be back in Zurich around 3pm, stop by home, leave my massive bags, and then head to Adliswil. I will check train connections, but should make it to Pot Belly by 4pm at the latest.

The perspective of large NOM NOM NOM makes this unplanned delay a bit more bearable

Looking forward!!!

Re: All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast (UPDATED!!)

I just got home. I wish I had brought a "doggy bag"! The apple pie was awesome...

Thank you JFL for organizing it! We really enjoyed it and hope the experience will repeat itself in the future!

P.S.: Always fun to meet a bunch of new people at the same time. After a whole Sunday speaking to 30 different people, the great male memory of my guests can be resumed to "the girl with the opera name" and "the Animal guy"... Men...

See you guys again on Thursday! Going to dream of fooooooooooooooood tonight!

vallers has no particular reputation at present
Re: All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast (UPDATED!!)

What a splendid event!!

I have just got home and still feel as full as a butcher's dog!

Really good meat, yorkshire puddings, roasties, mashed potatoes,veggies.....it was super that you made sure there was no skimping on the food...then throw in excellent company too and we have a fab afternoon. Oh and it was great to meet other EFers face to face

Thank you so much JLF for organising this well run do - judging by the postings ahead of the event, you really had quite a job keeping us all in check even though you made it (in my humble opinion) quite a straightforward event to join or not - I truly appreciate all you did before hand and the fact that you still managed a warm welcome for everyone today.

Cheers from the beached whale on the sofa......

Re: All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast (UPDATED!!)

A big thank you to JLF in organising this for us, the food is super; especially it is the first time a Swiss Chef cooking English food; bar service is great, even get cups of tea and most important, the company is great.

I cannot ask for a much better way to spend an otherwise quiet wet Sunday afternoon. All for under 100CHF. Wonderful...

now.. where is the sheet to sign up for the next one?

Spitzbube has become a little unpopular
Re: All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast (UPDATED!!)

Sure it was a last minute but I'm rather new to the EF thing so wasn't sure how to get ahold of the organizer and the restaurant said no prob they were happy to prep more food. Didn't realize this would ruffle so many feathers. Maybe it's my more easy going Californian sensibilities. Dunno. But as this was someone else's event my apologies for stepping on any toes. Hope that's ok w/ everyone; otherwise feel free to add to my collection of recent groans . Anyway, moving on...

I add my thanks and appreciation in saying that it was an awesome day.
Great food, good weather (mostly) and wonderful people. A very well organized event overall.

And I found out I don't suck at darts. Woohoo !!!

It was great meeting y'all and getting to put more faces to names.
Plus the restaurant is great. Good location, great ambiance, and very cool owner / staff.

Hope this happens again soon.

PS : Oh, and JLF, repeat after me, custard.

See, now you are just lying...for all the world to see. Speaking (and knowing) the owner and his manager, neither said that they were "happy" to prep more food because on the day before the event, that would be impossible. Preparations have been going on for weeks not days. It is obvious that you have no idea the efforts (of many) that go into an event like this.

And what you did has nothing to do with EF events and being new to the forum. You were certain that the rules didn't apply to you, went behind my back to prove you were right, and then advertised that you did so and that it was perfectly acceptable to do so (thus encouraging others to follow your lead). It was rude and disrespectful and honestly, it is people like you who make me never want to organize another event again.

Fortunately, there are many who are appreciative of the efforts of an organizer...and I will focus on those people. But you, sir, will always have a red flag by your name in my book.

I managed to get some photos which I will try to post this evening, if that's okay.
But the official pics would have to come soon too.
