Calendar: Social Events
JLF
Forum Veteran

11.09.2011 15:00 to 23:59
*The times shown may change, depending on DST settings
City/Town: Adliswil (Zurich)
Event Type: Dinner
Meeting Point: Pot Belly's, Soodring 21

PLEASE READ THIS POST. PLEASE READ THIS POST. UPDATE!!!

Come one, come all...The proper Sunday roast is on. And the pool is free.

The doors will open at 15.00 for us and the buffet will start between 15.30 and 16.00. It will be all-you-can-eat and last until 20.00. The bar will stay open (still with free pool) until around 00.00.

Menu (there will be, at a minimum, the following):
Roast Beef and (UPDATE) Roast Pork
Roast Potatoes
Mashed Potatoes
3 kinds of Veggies
Yorkshire Puddings
Gravy
Dessert: Apple Pie and Cream
Drinks are *not* included

Price: Between 45-60CHF (depending on the number of confirmed attendees). 50CHF deposit per person to me by SEPT 1 to guarantee your spot(s). If we have enough attendees at that time, I can still collect money and take more names until 5 days before the event.

Kids 12 and under: 25CHF---the venue also has a little play area for them

Location:
Pot Belly's
Soodring 21
8134 Adliswil
http://www.potbellys.ch/

It is a short 14 minute ride on the S4 from the Zurich main station (you do need a zone extension). Trains run every 20 minutes off track 1, and Pot Belly's is literally above the Sood-Oberleimbach stop. There is some parking available nearby as well.

Any questions, let me know.

Please read the thread for updates...so far there has been three or four!

Also, please RSVP separating your adult guests from your children guests. Thanks in advance.

Re: All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast

As promised in this thread, the event...

As a note, I preferred the Sept 4 date but the venue was not available. If this day does not end up working out, then we will try once more in October.

Hopefully, if it is done right and you all are happy, it will become a once-a-month thing at the venue (and no deposit will be necessary).

Re: All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast

Just a note: can you please separate adult guests from children guests when you RSVP? I need at least 25-30 adults in order for this to be a 'go'.

Thanks in advance.

Yep perfect. More than anything, I have to know the split of adults/children for the buffet. If I don't have enough adults, all the children won't matter.

And I am assuming your 2 year old won't be eating right? I mean s/he might nibble off yours but you aren't planning on paying 25CHF for him/her, right?

Hmmm. I think I can safely say we will be paying 25 CHF for her. She eats like her mummy Plus I don't want to share my yorkies with anyone

definitely yes, and ummm, probably. In fact, it might actually produce a couple of curves on that very fit frame of yours...if you are lucky that is.

Re: All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast

Money update...

There are a couple ways to get me your deposit:
1. PM me and I will send you my address so you can send it through the post. I could also send you my IBAN information, but I would prefer this to be a "last" option.
2. Starting August 10, there will be an envelope at grumpy's cheese stand at the Viadukt everyday except Wednesday, where it will be at Zurich main station. If you go this route, please fill out the form on the envelope completely. If the event doesn't end up working out, I need to be able to get you your money back. Please also give the proper amount--this is up to YOU and not up to grumpy or UM to confirm. It is 50CHF per person and 25CHF per child up to 12 years old. Either grumpy or UM will then initial the amount of money collected. This is the only way I know you paid what you should...

I will update here once a week who has paid so that you know I received your money.

Also, the week before Sept 1, depending on how many people still need to pay, I will make myself available to "meet up" and collect money.

I hope this makes it as easy for everyone as possible.

Last edited by JLF; 10.08.2011 at 17:03. Reason: the envelope is now at the cheese stall...

Thanks!

I spoke with the owner yesterday and gave him the numbers (based on the RSVPs here), and he said it sounded promising enough to put it in his "monthly plan" for September. But of course, I have to have a minimum 25 paid adults by Sept. 2 for it to actually happen. The more people we have, the cheaper it is for everyone. I also hope there is enough interest. Time will tell.

Again, please guys and gals...separate your adult guests from your child guests. This is so you don't pay 50CHFs for your 5 year old.

I arrive in Switzerland on Sunday 28th and will be able to pay you when I get there, is that OK? It costs £25 to do an international transfer from my account in the UK so if I can do it when I get there that will be easier for me, hope that's OK with you. Will be in touch when I get there.
