Games evening
Calendar: Social Events

10.08.2011 19:00 to 23:00
*The times shown may change, depending on DST settings
City/Town: Zurich
Event Type: Other
Meeting Point: Address by PM

Right, so apparently we are having an evening playing board games next Wednesday (don't blame me for the short notice or the fact that it is a weekday, please, it wasn't my idea!).

No idea what we will play. Possibly Siedler/Settlers, but feel free to make suggestions or bring along anything you have.

There will be nibbles and soft drinks/wine, but again, please feel free to bring anything along that you fancy.

Please do RSVP if you plan to come, and I will send you the address by PM.
Edit: BTW, if it helps you decide, the address is about 5 minutes from Zurich HB by S10.

(Note: the "end" time is not fixed!)
RSVP'd Yes: 7 (5 members and 2 guests)
  • sygirl101
  • hope0407 + 1 guest - I love game nights! Have you done this before, if so how many people are you expecting (so I can know which type of games to bring along)?
  • Chemmie - I'm in for settlers!
  • jetset - sounds fun! i could bring along Bohnanza. i could also bring along bananagrams.
  • araqyl + 1 guest - Sounds great! Will bring a few small games in my bag, in case we need several running ... anyone up for Cluedo?
RSVP'd No: 4
  • Ouchboy - damn it, I'm not in CH
  • Phil_MCR - hopefully another time...
  • francesco_ud - DAMMIT. I will probably be free only past 21:30. Guess to late to join. hopefully another time...
  • KeinFranzösisch - I would love to, as I really enjoy board/card games, but I couldn't possibly make it to Züri in the middle of the week.
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

I am wondering if there would be people interested in Basel, we love boardgames and have so many of them...
If there's alcohol or KFC involved, you know there are a lot of people that would join.

KFC AND board games! sounds like a dream come true!

(although we won't be using my boardgames....that KFC grease can make even the thickest playing cards go transparent :P)

Oh, I am jealous. Might organize a trip to ZU to hang with you guys, I just made a collection of nice and used Boggle, Pictionary, Monopoly, Triominoes, Trivial Pursuites, Pentago, Big Scrabble, and a bunch of more. I love board games.

i don't play monopoly, risk or any confrontational game with girls.
There is no good possible outcome out of it.

you mean that smashing the final piece down on the board with your fist, then standing on your chair and pointing with your finger repeatedly at the vanquished girl chanting "loser! loser! loser!" doesn't count as a good outcome?

MC seems like the one who would specially take defeat by throwing the board out the window and throw the dice at you while saying: " park on this!"

Re: Games evening

I am usually sickly bored with...errmm ahemm, board games.
Monopoly I can usually stand, but barely.

Settles on the other hand, I just can't stop playing--almost 5 years lone. Carcassonne was also a lot of fun--but only played it once.

Yahtzee I enjoy as well, but usually alone on an electronic device.

Sequence is another one that I enjoy playing, very simple, but makes for and interesting game--very social as well.

We also Carcassone and Puerto Rico, I personally like the train games, according to husband Settlers is not really a boardgame accodring to purists)..no comment from my side
