I can assure you that they did bring the side dish. But honestly: Why didn't you ask for it?

The place is usually quite full, so the staff is quite stressed. But the place isn't so full because the food is so bad...

I don't think they do a buffet as in "all you can eat". They have a buffet from which you can order a plate or take away... but that's just what's in the menu anyway.
I'd only been here for a few months, and this was one of the first times eating out. Wasn't sure if that was just the 'Zurich' style. It was only when another table ordered the same thing and the side plate came along that I realised.

Anyway, seems I should try again, especially after what I've read here. Pho soups have popped into my mind quite a lot soon, so will give Saigon another try I think (once the hot spell is over!).

Interesting. Went there last September and was so under impressed that decided it wasn't for me. I took a standard beef pho; they forgot to bring the side plate with the interesting spices (mint, basil, beansprouts, other things I do not recognise). So it was quite bland (I used to eat Pho quite regularly in Paris before moving here).

So perhaps I should try again. Also I think they do a lunch buffet?
Was there for the first time some weeks ago for lunch and was way under-impressed with the totally bland butter chicken dish. Decided I'd give the place another go at some stage and defo go for another dish at that time.

As it happens, I was there again last week for dinner - totally impromptu visit with others - but didn't order anything myself as I'd already eaten Nordsee fish and chips not long before. That said, I did take a bite of a fellow diner's rather large and somewhat - putting it politely -strange looking spring roll or whatever it was.

Two of my fellow diners had the Pho (side dishes in evidence) and enjoyed it. So, yeah, you should give it another go. Next time I will go for a duck dish and which had better be spiced up hot like there's no tomorrow!
