*The times shown may change, depending on DST settings
City/Town: Zürich
Event Type: Dinner
Meeting Point: Le Cedre, Badenerstrasse 78, Zurich

Okay here is the confirmation - I have booked a table at the most excellent Lebanese restaurant `Le Cedre` on Badenerstrasse 78, 8004. Zürich.
As the October A-Z event does not take place until 5th Nov and also there is the Pig roast at the Rote Fabrik in November . . . I have decided to miss the November event (which would have been `K`) . . .we will return to that later.
Anyway . . . this will then be our Christmas A-Z of dining event!
As most restaurants are very quickly becoming booked for December, we were lucky to get this reservation and it will almost certainly be LIMITED TO 18 PEOPLE.
PLEASE DO NOT ADD ANY MORE NAMES TO THE LIST AS IT IS LIMITED TO 18 PEOPLE AT THE MOMENT - I WILL TRY TO INCREASE IT AND THEN UPDATE THE EVENT.
The table is booked for 20:00 on Friday 9th December.
Hope to see you there.
RSVP'd Yes: 19 (8 members and 11 guests)
  • jako + 1 guest - Love the place. Hopefully the date will work for us (it does for now) - otherwise I will make sure to change my YES to a NO !
  • basher + 4 guests
  • prof. taratonga
  • Orienteer
  • nygnel + 4 guests
  • BokerTov + 1 guest - I am in, plus friend visiting from the US
  • Spitzbube - Le Cedre is definitely the most excellent Lebanese restaurant
  • cazzamia + 1 guest - I pm'd ya, but just officially expressing my interest here aswell - hopefully we can be squeezed in, if not, can't be helped. xx
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

Re: The A-Z of Dining in Zürich

Thanks Cazzamia, for the PM and I will try to confirm the extra 2 places this week.
To anyone else wishing to go - you will see that the event is almost certainly limited to 18 people.
Pleas do NOT add any more names to the list - send me a PM first and I will get back to you.
Cheers,
Basher

Re: The A-Z of Dining in Zürich

I've taken the liberty of closing this event to RSVPs seeing as instructions are hard for some to follow. As these dinners are very popular, I'm sure nobody will pull out but @Basher if you'd like me to re-open them, please send me a PM. Thanks.

Excellent - thanks for that. It`s a shame to have to close an event so early but as it is christmas, we just can`t add numbers up to the last minute as we normally do, as a lot of restuarants are already completely full! As Uncle Max said, if I can negoitiate some more seats, I will ask him to re-open the event (taking into account those who have already sent me a PM of course).

Re: The A-Z of Dining in Zürich

You may trying negotiating with the owner for a fixed cost per person (different costs for veggie vs meat). This may also convince him to up the number of people. We have done this in the past. Basically he charged a fixed cost per person veggie and supplied a fix cost for meat skewers. And threw in a belly dancer for kicks.

[If this works, I'll take two spots.]

Re: The A-Z of Dining in Zürich

Well I went to the restaurant tonight and asked if we could increase the seating - unfortunately he said that it was not possible because they are COMPLETELY booked up almost for the whole of pre-Christmas December.
However - there is hope - he told me that if anyone cancels or reduces the number, he will call me and offer us first choice.
That`s what he told me anyway . . . he looked friendly . . . and I am known to be somewhat gullible . . . we`ll see. I have a feeling that there will be more places - we just have to be patient. . . z z z z

Re: The A-Z of Dining in Zürich

I'd love to join with a friend of me, if they finally open more space. Have tried for ages to join one of the A-Z dinners but has not been possible so far. I cross fingers this one can happen. Thanks for organizing Basher!
Cheers

I've already missed the last one and now I will miss this one!

If we do McDonalds for M, then there should be plenty of space for everyone to join, right..?

APERO from 6.30pm at Schmucklerski Bar. It's just 2mins walk from the restaurant on the other side of the street.

Re: The A-Z of Dining in Zürich

I am so excited about this...Basher, I don't want to be a pain in the proverbial, but do you think it would be possible to ask them a very special request since we are such a big group, and so forth...

You see, they make one of the tastiest and most favorite dessert in the world, Kanafeh. I know, because I asked them. Problem is, they only make it in the morning and serve it at lunchtime until finished, and don't make it again in the afternoon. Again, I know, because I asked them.

I have only gone there for dinner, never for lunch, so I always missed this delicious treat...imagine the excitement of seeing it on the menu, then the disappointment of being told "we don't serve it at dinner because we make it in the morning only".

Do you think it would be possible to ask them pretty please if they could possibly make some for Friday evening? I would even buy multiple portions to take home and reheat later if that would help convince them...

Yes, I am that bad - alternatively, one could say Kanafeh is THAT good!

A quick reminder:

APERO from 6.30pm at Schmucklerski Bar. It's just 2mins walk from the restaurant on the other side of the street.

Just a few hours to go. Getting thirsty and hungry.

Cherimoya?

Grenadine (pomegranate)?

Dragon fruit?

Prickly pear?

Good times

P.S. Dear forum member "Total", care to explain your groan above? Not that I care, I am just quite curious as to why - I don't recall even seeing you at dinner, so I was just wondering.
