for those who never have played before--the basic skills are very simple. Run, Catch, pull opponent's flag when they have the ball.

here's a little flow diagram of the general rules and play style (although Zürich Intruders Flag Football has slightly different rules), so any new comers or beginers can understand what's going on very quickly

do we need to bring our own flag belts (where can I procure one?) or is someone bringin a handful?

No, you don't need to bring anything with you. We have footballs, flags and cones for marking up the field. We've been doing this for a few years now. I'd really suggest that you wear shoes with cleats, because you'll slide around in sneakers and the guys will burn you on the cuts and sprints. Also, bring a white T-shirt as well as a colored one so that we can differentiate the teams better like I wrote before.

Where's a good place to find cleats, inexpensively? I love myself some flag football, but I don't have any cleats.

Any Ochsner sports store or Migros Sportxx

My cleated boots cost about $ 35 via Amazon.

Regular soccer shoes are fine too, just something to grip the dirt.

There are some specialist US Sports stores too, but with the usual atrocious Swiss price mark up factor involved.

There's Top Market near the Binz stop on the S10 in Zurich. They usually have a good selection of shoes and dirt cheap too.

Actually the whole store is full of sick-cheap deals, but stock varies and changes.

Just random found that flow chart a few days ago, figured it was usefull for many europeans. A CFL on wouldn't be too hard to edit in---or our own Intruders version for that matter.

I thought the Halfback and Fullback positions were reversed in American football? I could be wrong...

We don't worry about minor details. The call will be something like, "Trips right, two on the left you two stand in the back field and protect my ass, I'll throw to whoever's open past the first down marker. Have they blitzed yet?".

There's not a street address as such. It's the field on the other side of the Sihl river from the Sihlhölzli athletics track. There are road names, Tunnelstrasse and Sihlpromenade, but I doubt your GPS will do the job and parking won't be advantageous.

We play (and have done) in any weather, because we're awesomely tough. No e-mails or postings if it's raining, we'll be playing anyway. The schedule is kind of every two weeks unless I'm doing something else. Send me a PM with your e-mail address if you'd care to be on the Intruders mailing list.

Thanks to all of the mighty 18 that showed up for football yesterday. White wins 3 to 2, an amazingly well balanced game, even if I was getting pretty fed up of the QB sweep option, get the f**k open play.
