I am really excited about this special A-Z! I have never eaten Jamaican food before.
I have no idea what is a Jamaican patty is (I am guessing it is somwhat like a samosa) and what Jerk Chicken is. The name "Jerk" is a bit off putting, but I love a surprise. |

Now you're making me hungry for some as it's my fave Jamaican chicken dish!
Oh and here's what a " Jamaican Patty" is too! Enjoy!

On a more serious note...after doing a cost/benefit analysis, this meal will fall under the category of highly unlikely....and I'll have to pass.

For the benefit of those who've not tasted Jamaican cuisine before and are interested in doing so, why not be helpful and add your definition of what the term "Jerk" refers to in this context, yeah?

I can have something jerked in my kitchen whenever I want to. | The following 2 users would like to thank lost_inbroad for this useful post:

I am going away this Sunday for a weeks holiday so need to get my deposit to someone before then. Does anyone live near to me in Kloten that I could pop the deposit to tonight or tomorrow? Even if you don't live too near me, doesn't matter, I can still drive to you. Zwissmiss, not sure if I can arrange something with you now as you are away this weekend right? Actually (thinking whilst I type here!), could I drop the deposit into the Jamaican food place direct? xxxx

Prof. Taratonga press ganged me into this and I'm glad he did; it'll be my first A-Z and I can't think of a better start. I'm CHF0.50 under the entry deposit, hope it doesn't spoil my chances.
Thanks to all for arranging. Looking forward to the company as much as the music as much as the food as much as the drink as mcuh sa hte dewe...

Hi Basher and all,
Here is my latest deposit collection status: For those of you who have not yet made arrangements to pay the deposit please do so with myself or basher ASAP as we need to pay the whole deposit by this Friday.
I work not far from the Zürich HB, it is also possible to wire me the money if you cannot meet me. PM for more details.
Thanks | The following 3 users would like to thank zwissmiss for this useful post:

I'm going to be paying the 300chf for the room tomorrow. We have it til the next morning and if we give it back dirty they'll charge us to clean it.
Going to the restaurant tomorrow to do a deal on the drinks, I can't promiss them at cost but I'll try to get them as cheap as possible. I'll give you the choices of beer tomorrow, don't remember exactly what they have, and I was thinking of getting rum, vodka, maybe a whiskey.... what do you guys and gals think? Plus the normal mixers and some wine too.
More domani!

Ooops...just realised that you are organising it yourself and not at a restaurant. Guess I'll just have to go to Jamaica in that case | This user would like to thank LouisaB for this useful post:

Er, The Nutty Professor has CHF24.50 of mine as deposit. I demand Blue Status.
I do hope everyone paid attention to i-b-deborah's comment on handing back a tidy room. And are prepared for a food fight

Shame on me . . for organising this event . . . and then leaving it in the ever so capable hands of Zwissmiss who is doing an OUTSTANDING job of collecting deposits . . and i-b-deborah . . . for also doing tremendous job with the room.
I have been otherwise unfortunately engaged on work issues but will be firmly back at the helm after this week.
However - not all has been slack in the Basher camp . . . I have actually paid the deposit for the food and so will collect the money directly from Zwissmiss. PLEASE ensure that you do pay!
I visited Clarke`s last night, to pay the deposit and discuss the collection of the food.
The owner asked me to tell her (by the 29th Oct) - how many of us want Jerk Chicken and how many want Red Snapper.
I will write a PM to all who have confirmed as `yes` and would kindly ask you to respond.
The Red snapper needs to be ordered in advance. That means that AFTER the 29th October, we can still take more people . . . .but they will have to take Jerk Chicken (plus all the patties etc). Thanks for your support people .
