City/Town: Zürich
Event Type: Dinner
Meeting Point: Zegal am Lac (Privat room)

Good old Prof Taratonga, that`s what I say – he did a great job in holding the fort for me last month, as I battled the stresses of flat moving.
So - here we in the 10th month of our adventure through the culinary alphabet and you may be surprised that I have resisted the temptation to jump into `Japanese` for the J event.
No . . despite there being no Jamaican restaurant in Zürich, we are heading for `The Jamaican jerk-off`
Date Saturday 5th November. Start time is 19:30
Venue – room at the Zegal am Lac (Rote Fabrik), See strasse (Wollishofen)
Yes, my friends and before you get over excited at the title I can direct you to this cheeky little song from the great Sir Elton John as the source of my inspiration.

Actually we are doing the meal ourselves, having rented a room down at the Rote Fabrik, ordered food from `Clarkes` Jamaican café and organised great Reaggae music too.
See Clarkes web site for food details www.clarke.ch

How do I do it? You ask . . well, the answer is I didn`t .
Credit is going to –
i-b Deborah – for organising the room.
isha – for recommending the Jamaican café and contacting them initially.
Prof. Taratonga – for supplying some good music.
So – here is the deal:
The roomcosts 300chf– based on25 peoplethat is12 chf perperson.
The food is 35 chf per person. That includes Jamaicanpatties (veg or meat)starters – 2 per person. Main course ofeither Jerk chickenor Red snapper.Side dishes of rice–n- peas plus Jamaicancabbage salad.
The Drinks areseparate and will be suppliedprobably on a sale or return basis.
I think that this could be a great event – I know that it is later than I normally post the details but due to my move, I was unable to put it all together before.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO –is pay a 25CHF deposit (as I am going to have pay a deposit for the food, next week) by the 21st Oct AT THE LATEST.
If anyone is willing to act as one (of hopefully several) collectors of deposits – it would be a big, big help to me
This is the ONLY way that you will get on this month`s event unfortunately, as we have to pay money up front. This is a non-profit making event.
The date is Saturday 5th Novembr starting time is 19:30.
At the moment I have based the number on 25 people but obviously if there are more, then the room cost (per person) will go down accordingly.
So get booking – get funking for Jamaica.
RSVP'd Yes: 26 (17 members and 9 guests) RSVP'd Maybe: 2 (2 members and No guests) RSVP'd No: 11
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

Terrific evening, thank you all.

And a particular thank you to the person who organised the entertainment.....who'd have thought a singing, dancing, drunk guy could be so much fun. I did feel a tad bad for him when he rolled a cigarette, lit it, and still didn't realise he had forgotten to add the tobacco....rizla certainly does burn fast....oh well!
That`s no way to talk about . . . .oh, you mean the drink guy from OUTSIDE. - thought you meant someone else.

Yes, he was fun too!

Actually i should have pointed out he was an "outsider"....i wouldn't want to tarnish the good name of those invited....myself included!

Thank you basher for everything. Was a huge effort from your side and you should delegate the work and have yourself a break sometimes.

The tractor races where fun and I have some compromising photos on my phone (please PM me to get the account information as I don't like to blackmail directly).

Thanks also to i-b-thereforyou for organizing the room and sprinting between the venue and the ziegel to arrange kitchen stuff.

And thanks to the wonderful and fun guests, oldies and newbies.
Next stop Lebanese!!!

I'd like to add my thanks to those of everyone else involved - I was a +1 this time, which is fun at times ... some people don't expect you to be there ...

Sounds like I missed some fun by leaving early, but babysitters sometimes prefer to be home before pumpkin time ...

Not skipping, rather delaying. The reason is simple . . . . October`s event (Jamaican) was late (actually in November) . . . then December`s event is early (because of Christmas) . . . . and that left just 6 weeks between.
Not wishing to over-kill the event and also because there will be many other family/work events between mid Nov and Christmas - I decided to, shall we say, defer the `K` . . Yeh `Defer the K` come on say it `Defer the K! Defer the K!` - yeh, whatever.
Actually I can take this opportunity to let you know that I will be away for Jan, Feb and March . . . but will hopefully delegate the hosting of this event to a trusty and reliable regular - further details to follow.
